Burnley vs Tottenham Hotspur Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Burnley made it seven games without a defeat after a 3-1 success against Brighton at the AMEX Stadium. Everything happening at the perfect time for Burnley, who saw goalkeeper Tom Heaton make inspired saves. A brace from Chris Wood on either side gave the Clarets a strong lead by the 61st minute. Brighton were denied a clear penalty and Burnley broke down the other end to receive a penalty of their own. Ashley Barnes converted this penalty to render Shane Duffy’s header has only a consolation. Tottenham had a strong performance to beat Leicester City 3-1 at home. Davinson Sanchez and Christian Eriksen scored in either side of the break, but Jamie Vardy threatened to put a damper on the celebrations. Son Heung-Min continued his excellent form with a late goal to confirm the win. Spurs went on to pick up an impressive 3-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 match.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

One of the last defeats suffered by Burnley was against Spurs, who had to work hard in order to pick up a 1-0 victory at the Wembley in the reverse fixture. Spurs are in a much better position coming into the game, while Burnley gave away little. Just like many of the recent matches between these two teams, this game is likely to be a low scorer. Spurs have picked up wins in the last two trips to Turf Moor and I would back an away win.

A majority of the games between these two teams has been low scorers with less than 2.5 goals and Burnley’s recent results will give them confidence that makes them quite hard to beat. Even now, Spurs are missing some key players and I would back under 2.5 goals.

Burnley Preview

Sean Dyche was in danger of witnessing Burnley drop back to the Championship after going through a terrible run of form in the first-half of the campaign. The club have now been able to put together an amazing run of results over the last few games. The Clarets have been quite fortunate in some of those matches, but the confidence provided by a seven-game unbeaten run can propel Burnley to the top half of the table. The Clarets are only five points behind ninth-placed Everton after the recent set of results.

Burnley Team News

Aaron Lennon (knee), Jonathan Walters (Achilles tendon), and Steven Defour (calf) are missing from the action for Burnley.

Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Mauricio Pochettino has seen his Tottenham team face numerous challenges from the start of the campaign, but the manner in which the club has been able to deal with those problems has been quite impressive. Even when missing a number of key players, Spurs continue to get multiple good results that have put them in a great position to tackle the difficult set of games coming up. Spurs are on the road in four out of the next five games in all competitions.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Vincent Janssen (knee) is the only player unavailable for Spurs.
