Burnley vs Swansea City Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Burnley host Swansea City at Turf Moor on 18/11/17 in a meeting of two teams experiencing very different starts to their respective seasons. Burnley were 1-0 winners over Southampton in their last outing, while Swansea were beaten 1-0 by Brighton and Hove Albion. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Confidence at Turf Moor is at a real high at this moment in time, with the club proving to be the season’s surprise package so far, sitting 7th in the table. Swansea are at the opposite end of the spectrum in terms of confidence and I can’t see them having enough to halt Burnley here.

Burnley Preview

Arguably the greatest positive for Burnley heading into this weekend isn’t the fact they are 7th in the Premier League table, but more so the fact that Sean Dyche remains their manager following interest from Everton. Burnley’s terrific form has naturally brought attention to Dyche, who once again guided his team to victory last time out with a 1-0 win over Southampton. Dyche was rewarded for his bravery in the game, bringing on two centre-forwards in the shape of Ashley Barnes and Sam Vokes and it was the latter who netted Burnley’s equaliser with a thumping header from Johann Gudmundsson’s cross. This latest away success was their third victory on the road in the Premier League this season, losing just once in six with that defeat coming away to Manchester CIty. They have also taken points from the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool, but the aim will now be to get their home form matching the standards set last season. Burnley have been far from poor at Turf Moor, but have scored just three goals in five matches en route to winning two, drawing two and losing one of their five home games. Swansea were one of six teams to win at Turf Moor last season and Burnley will be keen to put that right this time around.

Burnley Team News

Tom Heaton (shoulder) and Jonathan Walters (knee) remain long-term absentees.

Swansea City Preview

While one manager is flying in Dyche, his opposing number, Paul Clement, now finds himself in a situation where this is as close as you can get to a must-win game. That comes after the Swans went into the international break with four defeats on the bounce following a 1-0 loss at home to Brighton and Hove Albion. The in-form Glenn Murray scored the game’s only goal, netting just before the hour mark as the striker bundled the ball home from close range following Anthony Knockaert’s cross. Swansea meanwhile managed just two attempts on target as they again struggled to pose any sort of threat in attack. Clement has seen his side fail to score in six of their 11 Premier League games so far this term, with it appearing especially evident how badly they are missing the influence of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fernando Llorente. As such, Swansea’s hopes will now rely on the form of Tammy Abraham, who should be full of confidence after making his senior England debut during the international break. Abraham remains the team’s leading scorer this season with five in all competitions - no other player has more than one league goal.

Swansea City Team News

Angel Rangel (groin), Renato Sanches (thigh) and Wilfried Bony (hamstring) are all in contention to feature after returning to training. Defender Kyle Bartley (knee) is ruled out.
