Burnley vs Leicester City Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Burnley strengthened their case for European qualification by claiming a 2-1 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road. Despite falling down to Roberto Pereira’s second-half goal, Burnley were able to stage a quick-fire brace thanks to goals from Sam Vokes and Jack Cork. Leicester City’s own European hopes took a blow after a 2-1 loss against Newcastle United. Jonjo Shelvey’s cool finish from just outside the box in the 18th minute provided the opening goal, while Ayoze Pérez scored in his second consecutive to give Newcastle a substantial lead. Even though Jamie Vardy pulled one back in the 83rd minute, there was not to be a positive result for the hosts.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Leicester may come into the game with the opportunity to claim back-to-back league wins over Burnley, but it unlikely due to the recent form of the hosts. After having managed four consecutive wins, Burnley are strong favourites to finish in the seventh place. The Clarets would not be ready to drop points at home – even if they have managed just one win at home in the last six. I would back a Burnley victory.

The goalscoring exploits of Leicester City has been quite good, as Jamie Vardy has been on a brilliant run of form. The England international has come up with goals in five out of his last six games. Even though he has not scored against Burnley since 2015, Leicester are a good pick to score in the game. Likewise, Burnley have been able to score in seven out of their last eight league games. Hence, I would choose both teams to score.

Burnley Preview

As the Clarets enter into the game this weekend, Sean Dyche is a man enjoying a lot of accolades. Burnley have been quite sensational over the last couple of months. Since the 1-0 loss against Swansea, the Clarets have only dropped two points in the last 15. As a result, the club has taken more points than the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea in the last five games. A similar vein of form in the remaining seven matches will see Burnley reach the Europa League qualifying rounds next season. The partnership between Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes has been key towards this incredible form.

Burnley Team News

Scott Arfield (calf), Ben Mee (shin), Robert Brady (knee), Steven Defour (knee), and Johann Gudmundsson (calf) are the players unavailable for Burnley.

Leicester City Preview

The inconsistent form over the last few weeks has threatened to take Leicester City out of the running for European qualification. The exit from the FA Cup was supposed to help Leicester, but a home defeat against Newcastle is not a good sign with only six games left in the campaign. The remaining few matches of the campaign are potential banana skins, while some tough games against the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham also await the club.

Leicester City Team News

Daniel Amartey (hamstring), Vicente Iborra (hamstring), and Matthew James (Achilles tendon) are the injured players for Leicester City, while Wilfred Ndidi is suspended for the game.
