Burnley vs Chelsea Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Burnley made it five consecutive wins after beating Leicester City 2-1 at home. The two quick goals from Chris Wood and Kevin Long put Burnley in a commanding position after just nine minutes on the clock. Leicester never really recovered from his early setback even as the team scored in the second half through Jamie Vardy. Chelsea produced a memorable comeback to overturn a 2-0 deficit against Southampton. Despite falling to goals from Dusan Tadic and Jan Bednarek in either half, Chelsea were able to come up with three goals in the space of nine minutes – through Olivier Giroud (2) and Eden Hazard – to win the game.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Burnley are aiming for a double over Chelsea after having picked up a sensational victory earlier in the campaign at Stamford Bridge. However, a sixth consecutive victory may be stretching the run too far – considering that the five-game winning sequence is the best Burnley have managed in the last five decades. At the same time, Burnley’s home form is quite excellent and Chelsea may struggle to cope up with the fired up home supporters. I would go with a draw in the game.

The two teams have enough strength and quality to be able to score at least once in the game. In the last six meetings between these two clubs, there has been just match with a clean sheet on at least one end. I would back both teams to score.

Draw – 12/5

Burnley Preview

Burnley have been on a spectacular run over the last few weeks, but sustaining the same would be key for the club in the next couple of games. Pressure has built upon the clarets about snatching the sixth place from the clutches of Arsenal. It would be a tremendous achievement, but it does come with a lot of expectations. For the time being, Burnley have been able to preserve their position in the top seven owing to a strong run of form. The run of five consecutive wins has put the likes of Leicester City out of the running for Europa League qualification.

Burnley Team News

Ben Mee (shin), Jonathan Walters (knee), Robert Brady (knee), and Steven Defour (knee) are unavailable for Burnley.

Chelsea Preview

Antonio Conte largely seems to get ideas about his best team while making substitutions and it was once again the case against Southampton. The impact made by Olivier Giroud will have had the manager thinking a lot about using the January signing as the key centre forward in the team. Alvaro Morata has been quite dismal in most of the matches – even if he ranks as the second top scorer in the Chelsea team. The Spaniard was in a petulant mode against Southampton and the arrival of Giroud changed the game in a dramatic fashion. However, Chelsea do have a upcoming FA Cup game against Southampton to worry about.

Chelsea Team News

David Luiz is back in training from the ankle injury, but this game comes a little too soon for the defender.
