Burnley vs Brighton & Hove Albion Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Burnley failed to grab an advantage over Arsenal in the Europa League race yet again after only managing a 1-1 draw with Stoke City at the Bet365 stadium. Manager Sean Dyche saw his team fall behind to Badou N'Diaye’s early goal, but midfielder Ashley Barnes continued his good touch by grabbing the equaliser in the second half. Brighton were able to secure an unlikely 1-1 draw with Champions League-chasing Tottenham at the AMEX Stadium. Harry Kane opened the scoring just a few minutes into half-time, but the hosts were behind for just two minutes as a penalty from Pascal Gross provided a point for Chris Hughton’s men.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

It is quite incredible to witness the last four league meetings between Burnley and Brighton ending up as draws. In fact, the last victory for either team at Turf Moor was in 2012 – Brighton were able to secure a win on this occasion. The Seagulls have been unable to win the last 10 away matches in the Premier League, but the team has lost only twice in the last four away games. This fixture looks to be heading for another stalemate, as Burnley may have to settle for a seventh place.

Ashley Barnes has become the joint top scorer at Burnley following an incredible streak of goals. The midfielder has failed to score in just two of the last eight appearances. Even though Barnes has never scored against Brighton in the past, his recent form is a reason to pick the 28-year-old to score anytime in the game.

Draw – 9/4

Ashley Barnes to score anytime – 21/10

Burnley Preview

There is a significant danger of Burnley’s race for a sixth-place finish coming to a premature halt, as the team has fallen four points behind Arsenal, who have a game in hand. There was a strong likelihood of the Clarets finishing sixth in the table. It would have given them direct access to the group stages of the Europa League. As it stands, there is a significant chance of Burnley’s campaign starting in the last week of July due to the Europa League qualification games. Sean Dyche will be keen to avoid such a conundrum – especially in a World Cup year.

Burnley Team News

Ben Mee (shin), Steven Defour (knee), and Robert Brady (knee) are unavailable due to injuries.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Chris Hughton’s men have now gone five games without a win in the Premier League but the point against Tottenham will provide the team with confidence. Even though Brighton are yet to hit the 40-point mark, the team are assured of safety after opening up a seven-point advantage over the bottom three with four games left. Since a number of teams are involved in a relegation battle, Brighton are unlikely to go down from this stage. This, however, can lend complacency to the team, who are up against the top three outfits in the last three games.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Davy Propper is still suspended for the game.
