Bristol City vs Nottingham Forest Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the top-half of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Bristol City picked up three important points last time out as they beat Sheffield United 2-1 at Bramall Lane. The Robins took the lead through Jamie Paterson only to be pegged back five minutes later and looked to have to settle for a point until defender Aden Flint stepped up in injury-time. Nottingham Forest continued their strong home form as they beat Bolton 3-2 in their last fixture. The goals were spread around the team as Barry McKay, Joe Worrall and Ben Brereton all netted one each. The two meetings between these sides last season were won by the home side with the game at the City Ground ending 1-0 and the fixture at Ashton Gate 2-1. Ben Osborn has scored in two of the last three meetings between the duo.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Bristol City are the most likely to win this game but just two home victories in their last five means that I would not be rushing to get involved at these prices so I would recommend looking at other markets for the bets.

Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score in a double looks a safe play as this happened in each of the last four for the Robins and in three of the last four on the road for Nottingham Forest.

Bristol City Preview

It is now three straight victories for the Robins and just one defeat in their last nine in all competitions. This marks the start of a three-game spell of matches against teams outside of the top ten. At Ashton Gate, it has been a mixed bag recently with two victories, one draw and two defeats in their last five. Both teams to score has happened in each of the last three in front of their own fans and five of eight. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals has happened in each of the last four Bristol City have played. Jamie Paterson has two in the last two while Aden Flint has netted in two of the last three.

Bristol City Team News

Gary O’Neil, Jens Hegeler, Ivan Lucic, Famara Diedhiou (all knee) and Eros Pisano (hamstring) are all doubts. Callum O’Dowda (ankle) is a long-term absentee.

Nottingham Forest Preview

Forest have been in mixed form of late with three victories and three defeats from their last six. Only one of their next nine opponents (Sunderland) is not in the top 14 of the league table. Away from the City Ground, it has been three straight defeats with eight goals conceded and three netted in these matches. Three of the last four on the road have seen both teams score and gone over 2.5 goals. Just 15 of the 35 goals the East Midlands outfit have conceded have come in the opening 45 minutes. None of their last three and just one of their last eight have been without a goal in the first-half. In addition, have a play on both teams to score in the second-half which would have paid in the last four for the hosts and last time out for the visitors.

Nottingham Forest Team News

Tendayi Darikwa, Jack Hobbs (both unknown), Chris Cohen and Danny Fox (both knee problems) are doubts.
