Bristol City vs Hull City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Wednesday evening (19:45) fixture is on Sky Sports and features two teams in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Bristol City put to an end their five-game winless run with an impressive victory 1-0 at Brentford. The Robins were playing against ten-men for 32 minutes following the dismissal of Chris Mapham in the 58th minute but they needed to wait until the 89th minute to grab the points following a Niclas Eliasson goal.

Hull put to an end a two-game losing run but are now six without a victory following a 1-1 draw with Preston. They took an 85th minute lead through a Jarrod Bowen penalty but were denied a deserved three points by conceding an 93rd minute equalizer.

The two meetings between these sides last season produced a total of 15 goals with a 5-5 draw at Ashton Gate and a 2-3 Robins victory in Humberside.  Frazier Campbell netted in both while Famara Diedhiou grabbed a brace in the match at Ashton Gate.

Betting Tips and Predictions

It is hard to argue with the odds on offer though given Bristol City have won just two of six in front of their own fans this season it is not a price that inspires me.  Hull though are not a side I want to be siding with so I will look at other markets.

The Robins have scored exactly one goal in each of their last three at their own ground while the Tigers have failed to net in three of their last four on the road so this could be a game low on goals.  The under 2.5 goals market reflects this but it could still be worth a small interest on under 1.5 while backing the hosts to keep a clean sheet also make sense.

Bristol City Preview

The last time the Robins won a game after a losing spell they won four straight and will hope to do the same here. They sit tenth in the table and each of their next four are against sides in the bottom third..

At Ashton Gate, they are winless in their last two and have won just two of six in the league this season. Josh Brownhill has netted in two of his last four appearances in front of his own fans.

Eight of the 13 Bristol City have played have been level going into the interval and this is four of six at home. Just five of the 17 goals City have netted have come in the first-half with 59% coming in the final 30 minutes.

Bristol City Team News

The Robins have keeper issues with Frank Fielding (meningitis) and Niki Maenpaa (abductor strain) both out for a few weeks. Nathan Baker, Callum O’Dowda (both unknown), Tomas Kalas (broken jaw), Bailey Wright (quad), Eros Pisano, (hip), Mo Eisa and Hakeeb Adelakun (both ankle) are all doubts. Korey Smith (knee) is out until the New Year.

Hull City Preview

The Tigers are six without a win and have won just two all season and they sit second bottom of the table. They now face three of their next four on the road with the other being a tricky home game with West Brom.

Away from the KC Stadium, they have lost four straight conceding eight times and netting just once. They have scored just five road goals this season and three of them came in the same match against Rotherham.

Hull would be as high as 17th if the scores at half-time were what shaped the league as they have been behind just five times going into the break. Six of the 11 they have scored themselves have come in the first-half.

Hull City Team News

Markus Henriksen (unknown), Jon Toral, Angus MacDonald (both calf), Ondrej Mazuch (knee), Evandro (hamstring) and James Weir (meniscus) are all doubts.
