Bristol City vs Burton Albion Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Friday evening (19:45) game features the side fourth from top hosting the side fourth from bottom in the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Bristol City continued their good start to the season with a 3-1 victory at Portman Road in their last fixture before the international break. The goals were spread around the team with one each for Bobby Reid, Josh Brownhill and Famara Diedhiou to enable them to secure all three points. Burton suffered their second successive heavy home defeat going down 4-0 to Wolves in their previous match. They found themselves 2-0 down in 11 minutes and could find no way back into the tie. The last time these two met at Ashton Gate was in March and it ended goalless while the game at Burton saw City win that one 2-1. Tammy Abraham (who is no longer at the club) netted a brace for the Robins while Tom Naylor scored for the Brewers.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Bristol City are strong favourites for this game and given the respective form of the two sides that is hard to argue with. I think rather than taking the match prices look to enhance it by taking the Robins to be ahead at half-time and then again at full-time. This would have paid in their last two while Burton have been 3-0 down at the interval in their last two. Given that the Brewers have shipped eight in their last two and City have scored more than two goals in three of their last five have a small play on the total Bristol City team goals going over 2.5.

Bristol City Preview

After being tipped as possible relegation candidates it has been a great start for the Robins who have taken 20 points from their 11 fixtures and sit in fourth place. City are now unbeaten in their last nine and have suffered just one league defeat all season. At home, it has been three victories and two draws and this is their first of back-to-back games in front of their own fans. Only Sheffield United and Leeds (two) have conceded a lower number of goals at their own ground than the three they have shipped. They have not struggled for goals with 20 for the season which is only bettered by Hull who have netted 22. The Robins are fifth in the goals per fixture table with an average of 2.82 per match and six of their 11 have gone over 2.5 this campaign.

Bristol City Team News

Milan Djuric is a nearing a return following a groin strain.

Burton Albion Preview

It looks like being a tough season ahead for Burton who have won just two of 11 in the league and sit in 21st place on nine points. Just three of their next nine are against sides in the top-half so they need to use this period to get some points on the board. On the road, they lost each of their first three though since then they have picked up useful draws at Carrow Road and Loftus Road. They have found the back of the net on just one occasion on their travels. A lack of goals has been a huge issue with only Bolton going under their tally of six for the season. They also have shipped the most goals conceding 23 times with eight of these coming in their previous two.

Burton Albion Team News

Liam Boyce will not be available for selection until 2018 with a cruciate ligament injury.
