Bristol City vs Brentford Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Easter Monday (15:00) fixture features two sides with hopes of making the end of season play-offs.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Bristol City were in action on Good Friday and battled out a 2-2 draw away to Barnsley twice coming back from behind.  The Robins were grateful to Famara Diedhiou and then again Josh Brownhill who scored in the 91st minute to rescue a point that the performance data suggests they really did not deserve.

Brentford were also in action Friday and they also drew battling out a 1-1 result at home to Sheffield United.  The Bees drew level through Chris Mepham and then both sides played the last 20 minutes with ten men as Ryan Woods and Jamal Blackman were dismissed.

The reverse fixture came early in the season in mid-August and it ended 2-2 meaning the London outfit are unbeaten in the last seven head-to-heads.  Ollie Watkins and Neal Maupay netted for Brentford while Josh Brownhlll and Bobby

Betting Tips and Predictions

These two teams probably have little to choose between them but given that Bristol City have won ten of 19 at home and Brentford have lost six of their last ten on the travels at the odds the Robins look the value call.

The price on the No in the both teams to score looks a little too high for me given that this would have paid in just two of the last six City home matches and none of the last seven on the road for the Bees.

Bristol City Preview

The Robins are now unbeaten in three and have lost just two of their last ten but a tendency to draw too many (14 times this season) could keep them out of the top six.  Three of their next four are against top-half opponents with the other against a Birmingham side desperate for points at the bottom.

At Ashton Gate, they have won each of their last two and are unbeaten in their previous five winning three of these.  Bobby Reid has four in the last three home matches while Famara Diedhiou has three in his last five.

Four of the last seven Bristol City league games have gone under 2.5 goals though the last one produced four.  Around 63% of the Championship goals they have netted this season have come in the second-half.

Bristol City Team News

Aden Flint is available following his suspension. Hordur Magnusson (knock), Matty Taylor (hernia) and Callum O’Dowda (ankle) are doubts.

Brentford Preview

It is now four without a victory for the Bees whose slump has come at a bad time as it looks like costing them a run at the play-offs.  They have a tricky spell ahead with three of their next four on the road.

Away from Griffin Park, they have been on a sequence of results that has seen them win one and then lose the next one.  For those keeping track they lost their last road game 1-0 against Millwall.

The last three Brentford matches have seen both teams score but when just looking at away ties none of their last seven have seen this.  In just one of their last six have the London side scored more than one goal and this came against Burton.

Brentford Team News

Rico Henry (knee) is a long-term absentee while Andreas Bjelland (Achilles) is a doubt. Ryan Woods will miss the game through suspension but Romaine Sawyers is available.
