Bristol City vs Bolton Wanderers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) game features two sides at opposite ends of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Bristol City continued their recent good run with a hard-fought point at Carrow Road at the weekend. They struggled to create chances but showed that they can also be tough to break down themselves. Bolton continued their shocking run of form by losing 3-0 at home to Brentford who previously had not won a league game. The Trotters were dominated in terms of possession and goal chances created. The last time this pair met at Ashton Gate was in March 2016 with the Robins running out 6-0 winners. It marked the third of four recent meetings between the pair to go over the 2.5 goal mark.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Bristol City will win this one but you cannot back them straight up at such short prices so you need to find a way to enhance this. The average time of the first goal conceded in Bolton games is the 26th minute so try the Robins in the half-time/full-time market. Also, just try a straight interest in City to be ahead at half-time which is generously priced.

Bristol City Preview

The Robins are defying expectations that they will struggle and sit in eighth place and have taken 14 points from their first nine games. They are unbeaten in their last seven league matches and have also knocked Watford and Stoke out of the League Cup. At home, they have beaten Barnsley and Derby while they have drawn with Millwall and Aston Villa. Three of these have seen both teams score while the other finished without a goal. Bobby Reid and Famara Diedhiou have two in their last three while Aden Flint has two in the last four. 60% of their goals have come in the second-half with 33% coming in the final 15 minutes.

Bristol City Team News

Milan Djuric continues to miss out with a groin strain.

Bolton Wanderers Preview

It has been a nightmare start for Bolton who have lost seven and drawn two of their opening nine fixtures and sit bottom of the table. Four of their next six are on the road and they could be far removed from the rest of the division by the end of October. On the road, they have taken both their points (at Millwall and Birmingham) but since then have lost at Hull and Ipswich shipping six goals without reply. In fact, the Lancashire side have netted just once in four league away ties. They have gone six without a goal in all competitions while shipping 16 in these matches. Of the four goals, they have netted in the league three of these have come in the second-half of the game.

Bolton Wanderers Team News

Sammy Ameobi (knee) and Stephen Darby (hamstring) are the closest to a return while Will Buckley (hamstring), Josh Vela (ankle) and Derik Osede (groin) are all at least a month from making a comeback.
