Brighton & Hove Albion vs West Ham United Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Brighton went six games without a win in all competitions after falling to a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Brighton had just 20% of the ball but Chris Hughton will be disappointed with the way City capitalised on defensive mistakes to score through Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero. West Ham produced their best performance of the season to beat Manchester United 3-1 at the London Stadium. Felipe Anderson scored his first goal in West Ham colours to open the scoring after five minutes. An own goal from Victor Lindelof doubled Hammers advantage before the Marcus Rashford pulled one back for United. Marko Arnautovic’s finish just three minutes later restored West Ham’s two-goal lead.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Brighton were able to complete a double over West Ham last season. The Seagulls even managed to come up with a 6-1 aggregate score – despite their reputation for being quite mediocre going forward. Yet, this West Ham team has confidence and belief coming into the game. The disastrous start to the campaign has all been forgotten after beating Manchester United and managing a draw against Chelsea. Brighton lost only four times at home last season and Hughton will be pressing his team to avoid silly mistakes that have led to recent disappointments. I would opt for a draw.

Marko Arnautovic’s return made a difference for West Ham in the game against United. Arnautovic’s impact was so great that the Austrian had almost twice the number of touches compared to Romelu Lukaku. The 29-year-old may have failed to score in his only game against Brighton, but he can be dangerous – especially on the counter. I would back Arnautovic to score anytime.

Draw – 11/5

Marko Arnautovic to score anytime – 7/4

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Chris Hughton will have reasons to be disappointed with Brighton’s recent set of results. Even though the team did show a lot of grit and determination to pick up draws against Fulham and Southampton, the lack of wins is starting to hurt Brighton in terms of the league position and confidence levels. Hughton will be keen on leading the team to a positive result before they head into the international break, as the league resumes into games against the likes of Newcastle, Wolves, and Cardiff – games that can go a long way into determining Brighton’s survival.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Dale Stephens (hamstring), Soufyan Ahannach (leg), and Pascal Gross (ankle) are unavailable due to injuries.

West Ham United Preview

The hammers appear to have turned around the corner, as the club has picked up three wins in the last four matches of all competitions. Manuel Pellegrini will be awaiting the return of several players, who are still on the treatment table, in order to build on this recent run. Pellegrini was subjected to plenty of doubts and speculation after starting his reign at West Ham with four consecutive league losses. West Ham began the campaign with aspirations of a European finish and their current form gives more belief about meeting those objectives.

West Ham United Team News

Carlos Sanchez (collateral ligament), Moses Makasi (knee), Andrew Carroll (ankle), Nathan Holland (ankle), Jack Wilshere (ankle), Manuel Lanzini (cruciate ligament), and Winston Reid (collateral ligament) are unavailable due to injuries.
