Brighton & Hove Albion vs Watford Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Brighton went four matches without a victory after a 4-2 defeat against Fulham. Chris Hughton’s men opened up a 2-0 lead after an early brace from Glen Murray. However, Fulham roared back in the second half when Callum Chambers pulled one back in the 47th minute. Aleksandar Mitrovic came up with a brace to put the home team in front, while Luciano Vietto was able to add the icing on the cake with the fourth goal. Watford lost for the first time in seven matches after a 2-1 loss against Spurs. Even though Craig Cathcart provided Watford with a lead in the first half, late goals from Son Heung-Min and Fernando Llorente were able to hand the home team with a win.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Brighton and Watford will try to score a lot of goals from set piece situations. Even though Chris Hughton witnessed Glen Murray coming up with a brace in the midweek match against Fulham, the 35-year-old is unlikely to feature from the start in this match. This would mean an opportunity for Florin Andone who has not been too bad. However, Brighton’s recent set of results will be a major downer and the team will be looking to get something out of this fixture. Watford have the potential to bounce back immediately from the late defeat against Spurs. I would take a draw.

There have been plenty of goals at both ends of the pitch when Watford and Brighton have taken to field in recent weeks. However, it has not been the case when these two teams have gone head-to-head against each other, as none of the last six matches have produced over 2.5 goals. After conceding four against Fulham, I would back this match to produce under 2.5 goals.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Chris Hughton once again needs to motivate his Brighton team back to winning ways, as the club have now gone four matches without a win. Crucially, the manner of the loss against Fulham will be a major demoralising factor going into a run of tricky matches. Brighton have so far done exceedingly well to stay clear of the bottom three, but results in the midweek showed that the Seagulls cannot be complacent going into the business end of the campaign. There is only seven points separating Brighton from the bottom three and things could get tricky in the final few weeks of the season.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Bernardo (hamstring), Jason Steele (wrist), and Jose Izquierdo (knee) are unavailable for Brighton.

Watford Preview

Javi Gracia will be pleased with the recent form shown by Watford – even after the defeat against Spurs. The hornets have been playing some excellent football, but it will be a major challenge for the team to retain players like Abdoulaye Doucoure, who have been subjected to sudden interest from Chelsea ahead of the transfer deadline day. Watford have a relatively small squad which needs the brilliance of players like Doucoure in order to excel. Earlier in the campaign, names like Roberto Pereyra and Gerard Deulofeu were consistently seen on the scoresheet. Now, Watford have been getting goals from across the pitch.

Watford Team News

Abdoulaye Doucoure (knee) and Kiko (hamstring) are unavailable for Watford.
