Brighton & Hove Albion vs Tottenham Hotspur Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Brighton’s poor run extended with the team losing 3-2 against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Even though Chris Hughton’s men fell down to early goals from Wilfried Zaha and James Tomkins, there was some hope when Glen Murray pulled one back in the 18th minute. Zaha soon restored Palace’s advantage before Brighton scored a yet another through José Izquierdo. However, there was not to be a Brighton comeback. Spurs lost for the first time in 15 league matches after a 3-1 defeat against Manchester City. Two quick goals from Gabriel Jesus and Iker Gundogan (penalty) put City in a commanding position before Christian Eriksen pulled one back for Spurs just before half time. The threat from the hosts was ended once Raheem Sterling scored in the second half.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Christian Eriksen has been the inform player for Tottenham after coming in with goals in each of his last 4 club appearances. There is scope for the Danish midfielder to be rested for this game, but Pochettino is unlikely to choose this option with Chelsea breathing down their neck. Eriksen will be coming up against a defence that has conceded 10 goals in six games. I would back Eriksen to score anytime in the match.

The recent matches for Brighton have ended up producing plenty of goals and the likelihood of a high-scoring meeting is significantly greater. Tottenham have witnessed over 2.5 goals in each of the last five games across all competitions, while Brighton have experienced this phenomena once in the last five. Even then, I would back over 2.5 goals in this game.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Brighton have had a string of disappointing results which are preventing the club from hitting the magical figure of 40 points for the campaign. Even though the club have a seven-point advantage over the bottom three places, this is an advantage that does not provide a significant breathing space. Instead, it only induces anxiety into the Brighton team, which has already been suffering from poor form. Winless in the last five games across all competitions, Brighton need to pick up their form rather quickly in order to avoid missing out on safety.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Davy Propper is the only player unavailable for Brighton, as he is still suspended.

Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Tottenham’s sizeable advantage over Chelsea has been cut down to 7 points after the loss against Manchester City. This new advantage for Mauricio Pochettino’s team is that worrying, as manager Antonio Conte may have just found the winning combination with Chelsea picking up a victory over Southampton. The seven-point advantage for Spurs has the potential to provide complacency. Keeping up the good form shown in the last couple of months will be essential for Spurs to not just worry about winning by the odd goal. Despite Harry Kane’s goals being almost non-existent in the last month, Spurs have been able to keep picking up victories due to Christian Eriksen’s form.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Harry Winks (ankle), Fernando Llorente (personal reasons), Danny Rose (calf), and Kyle Walker-Peters (hamstring) are players unavailable for Tottenham.
