Brighton & Hove Albion vs Swansea City Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Brighton’s excellent run continued as the team secured a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals by beating Coventry City 3-1 at home. First-half goals from Jurgen Locadia and Connor Goldson put Chris Hughton’s team in a strong position, while January signing Leonardo Ulloa added a third in the second half. Coventry only claimed the consolation through Clarke Harris late in the game. Swansea City were forced into an FA Cup replay during the weekend, as the team were held to a goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday. In the previous league outing, Swansea beat Burnley 1-0 at the Liberty stadium.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The Brighton team are looking to complete a double over Swansea after having secured a 1-0 win in the previous fixture. However, it is highly unlikely with Swansea continuing to show a lot of momentum. A trend when it comes to the away matches involving Swansea is the sheer number of draws – all of the last five away games have been stalemates. A draw would also suit the hosts and this would also be my choice. The games involving Swansea have witnessed a lower number of goals in recent months, as Carlos Carvalhal has made the Welsh team defensively solid. Swansea have allowed only five goals in the last six matches – only Tottenham and Manchester United have a better defensive record in this period. Brighton have also averaged around a goal per game. Instead of the total goals, I see value in backing both teams to score in this game.

Draw – 9/49

Both teams to score – 6/5

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Brighton have been able to make the most out of home matches in recent weeks, but their form in general has been excellent. Even though Chris Hughton’s men remain with relegation fear even now, the run of just three defeats since Boxing Day will help Brighton slowly move away from the drop. It should also be remembered that two of those defeats were against Chelsea. Brighton are unbeaten in the last five matches of all competitions. A significant jump in the attacking quality is rather surprising, as Brighton have scored seven out of their 22 league goals in the last six matches. Glen Murray’s form has been a significant contributing factor, and the 34-year-old is now on to eight for the campaign.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Tim Krul (neck) and Jiri Skalak (ankle) are the players missing from action for Chris Hughton.

Swansea City Preview

Swansea City continue their immense progress under the management of Carlos Carvalhal, and the club are now sitting outside the bottom three places. After having been certainties for relegation in the first half of the season, Swansea find themselves with the potential to even move closer towards the top 10. The club are only four points behind Bournemouth in the 10th place. Swansea have lost only once in the last seven Premier League matches, while they continue to make progress in the cup competitions. Jordan Ayew tops the scoring charts at the club with five goals.

Swansea City Team News

Swansea City will be without Wilfried Bony (cruciate ligament), Angel Rangel (groin), Leon Britton (groin), Alfie Mawson (knee), Leroy Fer (Achilles tendon), and Renato Sanchez (hamstring) due to injuries.
