Brighton & Hove Albion vs Stoke City Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Brighton and Hove Albion welcome Stoke City to the Amex Stadium on 20/11/17 as the hosts look to continue their strong form prior to the international break. Brighton won 1-0 away to Swansea last time out, while Stoke drew 2-2 with Leicester City. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Given the recent home form of Brighton, I can’t see Stoke causing an upset here, having won just one of five away from home this season. Brighton meanwhile are unbeaten in four at home and I’m expecting them to win here.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Brighton have really impressed under Chris Hughton in recent weeks, moving up to 8th in the Premier League table following their 1-0 win away to Swansea City. It was far from a thrilling contest at the Liberty Stadium as the Seagulls shut out the home side and scored the game’s only goal in a fittingly scrappy style. Anthony Knockaert crossed for Glenn Murray who somehow managed to bundle the ball past Lukasz Fabianski with his thigh as his strong goalscoring form continued. The 34-year-old forward now has four goals in his last three Premier League appearances as the veteran looks to become the man to score the goals that keeps them comfortably in the Premier League come the end of the season. There’s often nothing too spectacular about watching this Brighton side, with eight of their 11 matches so far featuring under 2.5 match goals. That said, they have scored three goals in two of their four league wins to date and do have the potential to put teams to the sword on their day. Unbeaten in their last four home Premier League games, Manchester City are the only team to win at the Amex Stadium so far this season, even then only winning 2-0 which looks far better for Brighton after seeing the ease in which Pep Guardiola’s men have dismissed other sides in the league.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Davy Propper (leg) is a doubt, while Steve Sidwell (back) is ruled out.

Stoke City Preview

Three things are inevitable in life - death, taxes and Stoke City drawing 2-2 at home to Leicester City. The meeting of the two teams at the Bet365 Stadium a fortnight ago proved to be the third consecutive season in which the game has finished with that particular scoreline, with both teams netting in the first half as Vicente Iborra put the Foxes ahead, only for Xherdan Shaqiri to level things six minutes later. Riyad Mahrez’s excellent individual effort restored Leicester’s lead, but they were unable to deal with the introduction of Peter Crouch, with the experienced forward relying on his instincts to make it 2-2. Npw 14th in the table, Stoke are just three points above the bottom three as things currently stand, though they will be looking to build on a return of four points from a possible six picked up in their last two games. Mark Hughes’ men won their first away game of the season in their last road trip, picking up a 1-0 victory at Watford as they now aim to win back-to-back away games for the first time since October 2015. On that occasion, the second win came immediately after an international break and they will hope that can be a positive omen for them here.

Stoke City Team News

Jack Butland is ruled out with a broken finger, while both Geoff Cameron (concussion) and Darren Fletcher (calf) are doubts.
