Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Having taken the lead away to Bournemouth last time out, Chris Hughton will have been disappointed to have seen his side come away from the Vitality Stadium with nothing last Friday night. Solly March headed the Seagulls in front ten minutes into the second half as it appeared they would inflict yet more misery on Eddie Howe’s team. However, two goals in six minutes from Andrew Surman and Jermain Defoe - both of which were created by impact substitute Jordon Ibe - turned the game on its head as the Cherries bounced back to claim their first Premier League win of the season. Brighton will be sick of the sight of Bournemouth, having also been knocked out of the League Cup by Howe’s men in midweek. After claiming their first Premier League win at home to West Brom, the goal will now be to make it back-to-back victories at the AMEX. Doing that would require them to improve on last season’s record against Newcastle, having lost both meetings against the Geordies in the Championship. Scoring goals was somewhat of an issue at the start of the season for Brighton, who failed to score in their opening three games but now have four in their last two games.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Steve Sidwell (back) and Biram Kayal (broken leg) are both missing once again for Brighton. Forwards Izzy Brown (hamstring) and Sam Baldock (calf) are both pushing to return this weekend.

Newcastle United Preview

The feelgood factor is well and truly back at Newcastle United after the Magpies secured their third win on the bounce at home to Stoke City last weekend. Matt Ritchie was particularly influential for Newcastle, as he crossed for Christian Atsu to score the opener inside the opening 20 minutes. Xherdan Shaqiri levelled with a measured finish into the far corner, but the home side weren’t to be denied the three points as Jamaal Lascelles rose highest to head in Ritchie’s corner - this being the skipper’s second winning goal in two games. He, along with the rest of the Newcastle defence, have been crucial in their recent run of form, having conceded just once in their last three Premier League games which have laid the foundations for their recent success. With Rafa Benitez also back on the touchline after missing the Swansea game, normality has been resumed in the Newcastle dugout. It may only be five games into the season, but the sight of the Magpies sitting fourth in the table will delight the Geordie faithful, who have had tough times in recent years.

Newcastle United Team News

Aleksandr Mitrovic serves the final game of his suspension this weekend. Elsewhere, Paul Dummett (hamstring) and Massadio Haidara (knee) are both absent.
