Brighton & Hove Albion vs Leicester City Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Brighton entered into the match after being knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United. The 2-0 loss at Old Trafford came about as a result of goals in either half by Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic. Leicester City were thrown out of the FA Cup 2017-18 following a 2-1 extra time defeat against Chelsea. Alvaro Morata provided Chelsea with a lead just before half-time, but Jamie Vardy helped Leicester take the game into extra time. Despite home advantage, Chelsea upped the ante in the added time and were able to get a win through Pedro’s goal in the 105th minute.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Leicester are aiming for a double over Brighton after having secured a 2-0 win back in August. However, the Foxes have not been great on the road and have lost four out of the last six away matches. Meanwhile, Brighton have been quite strong at home with three consecutive wins. In fact, Chelsea and Liverpool are the only teams to beat Brighton at home in the last 14 league games. I would go with a draw, as both teams are closely matched.

Jamie Vardy has been in fine form with the striker scoring in seven out of his last 10 appearances in all competitions – including international games. The Brighton outfit are quite strong defensively, but Leicester do excel on the counter-attack thanks to Vardy. I would opt for Vardy to score anytime.

Draw – 9/4

Jamie Vardy to score anytime – 8/5

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Two back-to-back defeats have taken the wind out of Brighton’s confidence coming into the game. Just prior to the run, Chris Hughton’s men appeared to be on the verge of a top-10 finish. Even now, Brighton are just two points behind the 10th place. Much of the recent form for Brighton has been instigated by the goals from Glen Murray, who has been unable to score in his last two appearances. Even though he was rested for the FA Cup match against Manchester United, it remains to be seen if the 34-year-old can continue his good form.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Dale Stephens and Gaetan Bong are rated as doubtful for the match after struggling with a hamstring and thigh injury respectively. Anthony Knockaert is unavailable due to suspension.

Leicester City Preview

Leicester City will not be too disappointed by the FA Cup exit, as the team has the potential to go on a strong run of victories in the next few league encounters. The next four league matches for Claude Puel and his team look winnable, as they are largely against teams in the bottom half of the table. Jamie Vardy remains the major source of goals, but Leicester can also count on Riyad Mahrez. The Algeria international has once again returned to the reckoning and has been crucial over the last couple of matches.

Leicester City Team News

Matthew James (Achilles tendon), Kelechi Iheanacho (hand), and Daniel Amartey (hamstring) are unavailable due to injuries.
