Brighton & Hove Albion vs Ipswich Town Match Prediction

By Charlotte Louise Bushell

The Amex Stadium will play host to this Championship battle Tuesday evening (19:45) between two old friends in Chris Hughton and Mick McCarthy. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

It has been a mixed set of results when these two have met in recent season with Ipswich winning two, Brighton two and one draw in their last five meetings. The draw came in the reverse fixture at Portman Road in late September which finished 0-0.

It was back to form last time out for Brighton as they eased past Burton 4-1 at the Amex Stadium. Tomer Hemed continued his good run netting twice (one from the penalty spot) while Sam Baldock and Glenn Murray grabbed one each to complete the rout.

Ipswich got a useful three points at Villa Park coming out on top 1-0.  Emyr Huws was the hero of the game for the Suffolk side in a game which they were dominated in terms of the shots on target statistics.

Brighton Preview

Victory last time out put to an end a mini crisis that had seen Brighton take just one point from their last two games. It will have done their confidence a world of good then to get back among the goals last time out.

It is seven straight wins at the Amex, and in the league, they have lost just once in front of their own fans this season. The Seagulls will need to keep up the victories with Huddersfield breathing down their neck in third place.

Tomar Hemed is the main man in front of goal for Brighton right now with five goals in their last four fixtures. Sam Baldock has netted two times in the last four league ties at the Amex while Glenn Murray has found the net nine times in the last eight league home games.

Ipswich Preview

Victory at Aston Villa last time out put to an end a run of five games without a win for Ipswich. This moved them up to the middle of the table, and without a spectacular collapse, they look safe for another season.

It is just three wins on the road for Town in their last 11 away matches. Those wins came in the last five fixtures, and they have taken four points from their last two away trips.

Seven of their last 11 in the Championship have gone over 2.5 goals while eight of their last 12 have seen both teams score. This number goes up to four of six when just looking at Town away ties.

Brighton Team News

The returns of Lewis Dunk and Dale Stephens means Brighton are almost at full strength with only reserve keeper Niki Maenpaa (shoulder) unavailable for selection.

Ipswich Team News

Cole Skuse (achilles) is a doubt after missing the game at the weekend while Steven Taylor had to go off injured in the first half of the Villa tie. Jonny Williams (dislocated shoulder) is still absent.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I am surprised to see over 2.5 goals at such decent prices as each of the last three Brighton games have gone not just over in that market but over 3.5 and seven of the last 11 Ipswich matches have also gone over.

YES in the both teams to score market also appeals as it would have paid in seven of the last nine for the Seagulls and eight of the last 12 for the Tractor Boys.
