Brighton & Hove Albion vs Huddersfield Town Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Brighton fell to a third consecutive 2-0 loss, as it was the turn of Leicester City to enjoy a win over Chris Hughton’s men. The game appeared to be heading into a stalemate. There was little to separate the two clubs, but Vicente Iborra headed in the opening goal with seven minutes of normal time left. An injury time goal from Jamie Vardy came about even with Leicester being down to 10 men – after Wilfred Ndidi’s red card. Huddersfield Town are winless in four games after a 1-0 loss against Newcastle. This was once again a cagey affair that was separated by a late goal from Ayoze Perez.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Home teams have been successful whenever Brighton and Huddersfield have come up against each other. The former played reasonably well in the home defeat against Leicester City, while Huddersfield have lacked the zing going forward. Despite Brighton not scoring in the last three matches, there is enough resource for Chris Hughton’s team to take three points against Huddersfield. I would back a win for Brighton.

This is a match about two teams which have managed a total of nine goals in the last five matches. The earlier meeting between the two teams produced a game with less than 2.5 goals. There is a far greater possibility of experiencing a similar low scoring match.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

The three consecutive losses have sapped the confidence out of Brighton. The incredible win over Arsenal now seems a long time ago. Manager Chris Hughton will have to pick up his players quickly, as the seagulls have not gone out of relegation trouble just yet. A six-point advantage over Southampton, who occupy the final relegation spot, is far too close to comfort. The huge problem for Brighton is the lack of goals; Glen Murray was a major contributor of goals, but the veteran now seems to have hit a bad patch where little seems to work in his favour.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Dale Stephens (hamstring) is the only player unavailable due to an injury, while Anthony Knockaert is still serving a suspension for the red card against Everton.

Huddersfield Town Preview

Huddersfield Town have had a string of four matches without a win. Crucially, David Wagner has seen his team fail to score in these games. Huddersfield cannot hope to avoid relegation without scoring goals, but the team’s lack of threat up front has been obvious in these four games. The next two matches will be crucial for Huddersfield’s survival hopes, as they are up against teams around them in the table. This will be followed by games against the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea. It is quite incredible that Huddersfield have not scored in more than a month of football.

Huddersfield Town Team News

Sean Scannell (shoulder), Daniel Williams (ankle), Michael Hefele (knee), and Elias Kachunga (ankle) are unavailable due to injuries.
