Brighton & Hove Albion vs Everton Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Brighton were able to use home advantage and claim a valuable 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Boxing Day. Arsenal had the better of the opening exchanges and took the lead with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the seventh minute. Brighton, though, slowly got back into the match and their deserved equaliser came in the 35th minute when Jurgen Locadia scored for Chris Hughton’s men. Everton put behind the thrashing from Spurs with a thrashing of their own, as they beat Burnley 5-1 at Turf Moor. Goals from Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne, and Gylfi Sigurdsson put Everton in a strong position before Ben Gibson scored from a set piece in the 36th minute. Digne and Richarlison scored late goals to provide an emphatic win for Everton.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Everton have a real problem with the defence with the team conceding 13 goals in the last five matches. They have been especially poor in the set piece situations, which will provide most of the chances for Brighton in this match. The Seagulls are extremely strong from free kicks and corners, while Everton came up with a positive performance against Burnley to improve their confidence levels coming into the game. I would pick both teams to score.

A trait of Brighton has been making it difficult for opposition to get a free run at the AMEX Stadium. After watching Arsenal dominate the opening 30 minutes on Boxing Day, Brighton improved substantially. They are likely to be wary about Everton, who scored five goals on Boxing Day. I would back a game with under 2.5 goals.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Brighton continue to impress in the Premier League with the team managing points off the teams from the upper echelon of the league table. However, most of the impressive results for the Seagulls have come at home. Brighton need to take their home form even into the away matches if they are to enjoy a rather successful 2018-19 campaign. The team has been dependent on set-pieces and Glen Murray for their goals, but there has been an improvement on this front with several players stepping up to the plate. Brighton continue to remain defensively solid with the team conceding less than 2.5 goals in the last eight matches.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Jose Izquierdo (knee), Alireza Jahanbakhsh (hamstring), and Soufyan Ahannach (broken leg) are missing from action for Brighton.

Everton Preview

The manner of the comeback against Burnley will please manager Marco Silva after watching his team fall to a 6-2 mauling at the hands of Tottenham. Still, Everton do have plenty of work to do when it comes to improving their defence, as they have not kept a clean sheet in the last six matches. Everton have been especially struggling in terms of set-piece situations, which should come as a surprise considering the physical presence provided by players like Yerry Mina should make the team rather strong in this regard.

Everton Team News

Fraser Hornby (ankle) is the only player unavailable for Silva.
