Crystal Palace are an unrecognisable unit under Roy Hodgson, and with this unbeaten run still being maintained coming into this game, I can see them getting a result here.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Brighton twice saw their lead dissipate at home to Bournemouth last time out, after drawing 2-2 against the Cherries at the Amex Stadium on New Year’s Day. Anthony Knockaert gave the home side the lead just five minutes into the south coast meeting, but Steve Cook’s header levelled the scores. It took all of three second half minutes for Glenn Murray to restore the Seagulls’ one goal advantage, but Callum Wilson scored a contender for the scrappiest goal of the season to ensure the Cherries would leave the Amex with a point. Winning just one of their last 11 games in the Premier League, their slide down the table has been somewhat halted due to poor form of teams below them, though few would’ve predicted Crystal Palace would be within a point of them after their start to the campaign. What will also be of slight concern to Chris Hughton is the fact that Brighton have only won one of their previous eight home games, with their 0-0 draw to Palace in the league being included in that. That occasion proved to be a bore of a contest, with the neutral at least hoping the added element of the cup will result in a more open affair this time around.

Ezequiel Schelotto (head) and Steve Sidwell (back) are both set to miss out here.

Crystal Palace Preview

The Crystal Palace resurgence continued at St. Mary’s Stadium last time out, as the Eagles came from behind to earn a solid 2-1 win away to Southampton to inflict further misery on Mauricio Pellegrino’s side. Shane Long ended his year-long goal drought to open the scoring in the 17th minute, as Palace were slow out the traps to start the first half. However, they came out with a more aggressive intent in the second period, first equalising through James McArthur’s close-range finish, before his midfield partner Luka Milivojevic scored the winner ten minutes from time. Having been viewed by some as dead certain to face the drop after a nightmare seven defeats to start the campaign, Palace now find themselves sat 14th in the table, losing only one of their last 11 in the Premier League. Beaten finalists in 2016, Palace went out at the 4th round stage last season, losing 3-0 at home to Manchester City in doing so. The opening of the January window could see Roy Hodgson look to strengthen his squad, particularly in the attacking areas, where Christian Benteke remains the only fully-fit centre-forward. Palace are unbeaten in their last six away games in the FA Cup, winning five and drawing one in that time.

Crystal Palace Team News

Scott Dann and Jason Puncheon are both out for the season with cruciate ligament injuries, while Mamadou Sakho and Connor Wickham are also missing.
