There’s real disharmony at Chelsea at this moment in time, as was displayed during their FA Cup tie with Norwich in midweek, not to mention what playing 120 minutes will have done to some of the players’ energy levels. This is a free hit for Brighton, who will see this is a chance to somewhat upset the applecart.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Brighton will be looking for a strong response this weekend after seeing their disappointing run of form continue last time out with a 2-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion. Without a league win since August, the Baggies came out fast at The Hawthorns, taking the lead after four minutes through in-demand defender Jonny Evans. Brighton will have been well aware of the threat the home side posed from set-pieces, but stopping it proved to be easier said than done, as Craig Dawson scored from a corner, the second time they conceded from a Chris Brunt corner in the game. Without a win in four in the Premier League - failing to score in three of those games - Brighton have struggled since the turn of Christmas, though it should be noted three of those games came away from home. That said, four of their next six come at the Amex Stadium and they will be hoping to secure a significant points return from those upcoming fixtures. The Seagulls are still yet to make a signing this window despite their recent goalscoring troubles, with Glenn Murray leading the way with six goals - but no other player has scored more than four in the league to date.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Steve Sidwell (back) is unlikely to feature for the Seagulls.

Chelsea Preview

Chelsea crawled into the fourth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday night after overcoming Championship side Norwich City on penalties at Stamford Bridge. Michy Batshuayi opened the scoring after 55 minutes, but the Canaries forced extra-time - and subsequently penalties - when Jamal Lewis headed in the equaliser in the 94th minute. During the additional 30 minutes, both Pedro and Alvaro Morata were sent off to further the feeling of frustration at Stamford Bridge, though the Blues progressed after winning the shootout. Antonio Conte’s spell at Chelsea looks almost certain to be coming to an end come May, with the Italian showing signs of apathy in his recent press conferences - other than when the topic is Jose Mourinho. Now drawing each of their previous five games in all competitions, this has been a difficult spell for the Blues, who have scored just once in their last four outings, drawing blanks against Norwich, Arsenal and Leicester before Wednesday’s cup replay. Signing competition for Morata appears to be a priority for the club this window, with Andy Carroll’s name continuously linked with Stamford Bridge, though Morata’s suspension may see any move for Batshuayi put on hold until sufficient cover is available.

Chelsea Team News

Gary Cahill (hamstring) is ruled out for Chelsea, but Ross Barkley could is set to make his debut for the club.
