Brighton & Hove Albion vs Burton Albion Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

Brighton & Hove Albion v Burton Albion, Match Prediction

Both these teams will be looking for three points in their respective battles at opposite ends of the table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats

The reverse fixture marked the first time the pair had ever met in any of three Football League divisions and it was Brighton who came out on top thanks to an 88th minute Tomer Hemed penalty.

It was a six-goal thriller last time out for Brighton as they twice fought back from behind to rescue a point at Brentford. The Seagulls were 2-0 down after 22 minutes before a Solly March strike and a Shane Duffy header looked to have rescued them a point. The Bees struck again in injury time only for the South Coast side to find the net once more with a Tomer Hemed goal in the seventh minute of added time.

Burton were also involved in a game that went to injury time with them coming out on top 2-1 over Wolves. Helder Costa had given Wanderers the lead before a Michael Kightly strike put Albion back in the game. Cauley Woodrow got an injury-time winner to give the Brewers a crucial three points.

Brighton Preview

It is now three games in all competitions without a victory for Brighton and just two wins in their last five Championship games. This slight slip in form means Newcastle are back to the top of the table while third-placed Reading close behind just five off the pace though the Seagulls do have a game in hand of the Royals.

Chris Hughton will be pleased to get his team back to the Amex Stadium where they have won each of their last five matches to an aggregate score of 12-2. They have kept clean sheets in 11 of their last 17 home ties in all competitions.

Tomar Hemed is in a rich vein of scoring with three in the last four and five in his last eight. Top scorer Glenn Murray is on a bit of a scoring drought having not found the back of the net since December 27th against QPR.

Burton Preview

Two wins from their last three games and the news that Nigel Clough is staying as manager has given Burton renewed hope in their fight against relegation.  Albion now sit in 21st just one above the drop and three points ahead of the side in 22nd.

This game marks the start of a difficult road spell for the Brewers who face five of the top eight in their next six road trips. They have just two wins from their 16 away fixtures in all competitions this season.

Nine of the last ten away fixtures for the Midlands side have seen exactly two or three goals be scored. Both teams to score has been a feature of five of their last seven road trips. Just two of the last seven goals they have conceded came in the first half.

Burton Team News

Damien McCrory is a doubt after going off injured in the first half of the game with Wolves. John Brayford (unknown) and Kyle McFadzean (unknown) are also both set to miss out.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Brighton are just starting to stutter a little while two wins from the last three for Burton means confidence will be high in their camp.  I think the Brewers look worth take with a 1.0 start on the Asian Handicap. This bet will pay out if they win or draw this game and refund your stakes if they lose by the one goal.  Just two of the last 15 games have seen the Seagulls win by more than one goal.

I think Burton look capable of scoring here so take YES in the both teams to score market which would have paid in five of the last seven Burton away games and seven of the last 11 Brighton matches including each of the last three.

Burton + 1.0 on the Asian Handicap

YES in the both teams to score market
