Brighton & Hove Albion vs Blackburn Rovers Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

Blackburn will be looking to make history as they try to register their first competitive league victory over Brighton. In their nine previous meeting's five have ended drawn with the Seagulls coming out on top in the other four which includes a 3-2 success in the reverse fixture. Shane Duffy, Dale Stephens and Glenn Murray got their goals that day while a Sam Gallagher brace kept Rovers in the tie despite the sending-off of Gordon Greer.

Brighton lost for their third in their last five games when they went down to Leeds last time out. A Chris Wood brace gave the Yorkshire side all three points and means the South Coast outfit could not take advantage of slips up from Newcastle and Huddersfield.

It was a fourth successive draw for Rovers last time out as they were held 2-2 by Preston. After going a goal down a strike each from Elliott Bennett and Craig Conway looking like giving them three vital points only for North End to rescue a point in the 90th minute.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The last four Blackburn games have seen a goal in the last 15 minutes and with both sides desperate for three points it might be worth siding with the game having a goal after the 72:59 mark. Along similar lines take the second-half to be the highest scoring as it would have paid in six of the last seven Brighton matches and four of the last five for Blackburn.

YES there will be a goal after 72:59

Second-half to be the highest scoring half

Brighton Preview

Chris Hughton has done an excellent job as boss of Brighton but as the finishing line closes in things are starting to get nervy. The form has dropped a little but luckily nobody has taken advantage and they still sit second just one point behind Newcastle and above Huddersfield though the Terriers do have a game in hand.

It is three defeats from their last five for the Seagulls though at home they have lost just two games all season. From their last six in front of their own fan's it is four wins, one draw and one defeat which came to Newcastle.

Their last eight matches have seen an exact total of two or three goals in each. The South Coast side have conceded just five times in their last nine home ties in the league. Six of the last seven Brighton fixtures have produced more goals in the second 45 minutes.

Blackburn Preview

Tony Mowbray has done a good job since his appointment as manager of bringing Blackburn back towards the other sides in the relegation battle. They still have work to do though as they sit 22nd one point below safety. On the one hand a run of seven without defeat for Rovers is great work but a tendancy to draw is costing them as they have drawn five of these including each of their last four. They are without a win in their last six away though their last three have ended all square. Both teams to score would have paid in eight of their last ten and each of their last four. On the road, this record is even better with each of their last eight seeing both teams find the back of the net. In none of their last four have the Lancashire side scored first yet they have still gone on to gain a point.
