Brighton & Hove Albion vs Birmingham City Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

Brighton & Hove Albion v Birmingham City Match Prediction

This Tuesday evening game (19:45) from the Amex Stadium will have implications at both ends of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. It is Brighton who have dominated the recent meetings between the duo winning each of the last four and six of the last seven. In the reverse fixture back in December Albion scored two goals in the last ten minutes (one each from Anthony Knockaert and Glen Murray) to claim victory with Lukas Jutkiewicz netting for Birmingham. The Seagulls took an important three points on Saturday when they saw off the spirited challenge of Blackburn. A 67th minute Glenn Murray strike proved to be the difference between the teams. It was a third successive draw for the Blues who took the lead through Jonathan Grounds only for Grant Ward to level things up for Ipswich and this was how the game would finish.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I think Brighton should win this game but the price does not inspire a bet. A better option then could be to take the Seagulls to keep a clean sheet as they have done this in five of their last eight games and three of their last four at home. Birmingham have scored just three times in their last five. Four of the last five Brighton matches have failed to see a goal in the first half and each of the last three for the Blues so another bet worth looking at is the time of the first goal.

Brighton Preview

Three wins from their last four has steadied the promotion campaign for Brighton and combined with some slips from Huddersfield means that they look very strong candidates to reach the Premier League. They currently sit nine above the Terriers (who have a game in hand) and just one behind leaders Newcastle. The Amex Stadium has been a fortress this season with just two sides beating them here and another three coming away with a point though 15 of their 20 visitors have come away with absolutely nothing. No home team (equal with Norwich) has scored more goals in front of their own fans than Brighton while they have the best home defensive record in the division. One or both teams has failed to score in seven of their last eight and each of their last five. 15 of the last 19 goals in their fixtures have come in the second half.

Birmingham Preview

It is three draws in a row now for Birmingham and if you go deeper just two victories from their last 20 games in all competitions. They sit in 18th on 46 points but that is just six above Blackburn in 22nd and they are still seven fixtures remaining. The Blues are unbeaten in their last three on the road drawing with Ipswich and Cardiff and defeating Wolves. Not since Fulham in September have they won an away game to a side in the top eight of the table. The last four matches for the Midlands side have produced a combined total of just five goals. On the road, each of their last seven games has seen exactly two or three goals with seven of the last nine seeing both teams score. Each of their last three has been goalless at half-time.
