Brentford vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) game from Griffin Park should be an entertaining one as it features two sides with an array of attacking talent.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.
Brentford suffered defeat in their last league game going down to Ipswich 2-0 despite dominating the shot chart. In the League Cup, the Bees were buzzing seeing off QPR 4-1 thanks to a goal each from Neal Maupay, John Egan and Josh Clarke and an own-goal from Ariel Borysiuk.
Wolves also went down in their previous league encounter suffering a 2-1 home defeat to Cardiff with Leo Bonatini getting their goal. In midweek, they pulled off a League Cup shock defeating Southampton 2-0 at St Mary’s thanks to a goal each from Danny Batth and Donovan Wilson.
It was the Midlands outfit who came out on top of their meetings last season winning the game at Molineux 3-1 and this game last season 2-1. Five of the six goals netted in these ties came in the second 45 minutes.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I think Brentford must be due a victory soon but I am unsure I want to chance that here against Wolves who are a strong side.

One area of attack for both the Bees and for bettors is to look at set-pieces where Wanderers struggled at the weekend. I like the look of Harlee Dean in the goalscorer market at bigger prices as he carries a threat in the air.

Another bet I like is YES that both teams will score in the first-half. This happened in the Brentford game with Nottingham Forest and it came close to happening in the match with Bristol City.

Harlee Dean first goalscorer, each-way unlimited places

YES both teams to score in the first-half

Brentford Preview

Going into the weekend the Bees sat bottom of the Championship table with just one point from four games though they can consider themselves unfortunate as the shots on target data suggests they should be much higher.

At home, it is just one point from their two home games though last season they have won four of their final five in front of their own fans. Goals have been a feature with each of their last five at Griffin Park going over 3.5 goals.

Neal Maupay has netted twice in the league this season while Ollie Watkins, Andreas Bjelland and John Egan have netted one each. Nico Yennaris, Ollie Watkins and Florian Jozefzoon all registered four shots in their last game yet the London outfit somehow failed to net.

Brentford Team News

Lasse Vibe (foot) is out for an unknown period while Lewis MacLeod (cruciate) remains a long-term absentee.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

After three straight victories to start their league season Wolves suffered their first loss of the campaign going down 2-1 to Cardiff. With just one of the top-rated sides by the bookmakers in their next ten fixtures the Black Country outfit will be hopeful of putting a good run of form together.

On the road, it is two victories from two games this season seeing off Hull City and Derby County. Three of the five goals that they have netted on their league travels this season have come in the first 45 minutes.

Wolves have netted seven league goals this season with Leo Bonatini getting two and one each for Ruben Navas, Ivan Cavaleiro, Barry Douglas, Diogo Jota and Nouha Dicko which shows the wealth of options that they have.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Carl Ikeme (hamstring) is available for selection but Kortney Hause (knock), Dave Edwards (unknown), Ben Marshall (hip), Helder Costa (ankle) and Phil Ofosu-Ayeh (hip) are all about to miss out.
