Brentford vs Swansea City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides struggling for form and sat in the bottom 12 of the table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Brentford stopped a three-game losing run on Monday evening as a Lewis MacLeod goal saw them claim a point at West Brom. The 1-1 draw flattered the London outfit but the Baggies paid for missing so many opportunities.

Swansea came down to their third straight defeat as they lost 2-1 at Derby with their goal an own-goal three minutes from time. The Welsh outfit can have few complaints as they barely created a goalscoring opportunity.

These two sides have not since a League Cup encounter in 2008 so it is hard to read much into the head-to-head record. For what it is worth the Swans have won each of their last four meetings.

Betting Tips and Predictions

It is hard to trust either side here given the form they are in with Brentford winless in their last four while Swansea have won just one of their last five and that came against struggling Bolton.

Both teams score around 60% of their goals in the second-half so backing the second 45 minutes to be the highest scoring appeals as does no early goal which is set at 26:00.

Brentford Preview

The Bees were expected to be among the promotion candidates but no win in four and just one in their last 13 means they are nearer the bottom than the top. They sit in 17th four points from the drop zone though bookmakers still make them 12th favourites for the title.

At Griffin Park, they have lost their last two and won just one of their last six and the home fans are worried about Thomas Frank as the man in the dugout. They have a decent home spell upcoming with just two of their next at their own ground against top eight sides.

Neal Maupay is their leading scorer this season with 13 goals with the Frenchman only bagging two in the last six though. Ollie Watkins is their next best scorer with six goals including two in the last four.

Brentford Team News

Julian Jeanvier (foot) is a long-term absentee otherwise the Bees have a clean bill of health.

Swansea City Preview

The Swans are also on a poor run of form with defeats in their last three and in four of their last five. They have dropped down into 13th and bookmakers have them 12th favourites for the title.

Away from the Liberty Stadium, they have won just one of their last season and this came at struggling Bolton. They are about to embark on a nice run with none of their next five on the road against teams in the current top 12.

Swansea have scored exactly one goal in each of their last five and at least once in eight of their last nine. Oliver McBurnie is their leading scorer this season with eight goals with four of these in the last six.

Swansea City Team News

Tom Carroll (hip), George Byers, (groin) and Jordi Govea (unknown) are doubts while Luciano Narsingh (also hamstring) is a long-term absentee.
