Brentford vs Rotherham United Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

This bottom half clash on Saturday afternoon (15:00) takes place at Griffin Park. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

The last six clashes between the pair have ended in three apiece though Rotherham have won each of the last two including back on August 20th. Danny Ward got the only goal that day to give United all three points.

It was a good win at Sheffield Wednesday in midweek for Brentford to put to an end a run of three without a victory. John Egan and Harlee Dean netted in the first half to put the London side on top and a late Fernando Forestieri goal for Wednesday was a mere consolation.

It is now seven without victory for Rotherham who were hammered 5-0 last time out at Cardiff as their miserable season continues.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Nine of the last 12 goals Rotherham have conceded came in the second-half of games so take this to be the highest scoring Brentford half.

You could take your pick of any of the Brentford forwards to get among the goals against a side who has shipped eight in their last two.  I think Nico Yennaris looks the best value as he might only have two in the last eight but will be given more licence to get forward than usual against Rotherham.

Brentford Preview

A victory last time out moved Brentford into 14th and the London side should have enough to stave off relegation. They sat ten points above Wigan in 22nd going into the weekend fixtures.

The Bees have lost just one of their last seven at home in all competitions winning three of these.  They have won three of their four home games against sides in the bottom eight drawing the other one.

Over 2.5 goals would have paid in 18 of their 32 games this season and eight of their 15 at home. Their last ten matches have all gone over 2.5 goals with eight of these ten seeing both sides score. The last four ties have seen someone net in the last ten minutes.

Rotherham Preview

Just one point from their last seven games has seen Rotherham cut adrift at the bottom of the Championship table. They have 17 points from 33 games which means they are a massive 15 points from safety and it looks a case of when and not if they are relegated.

It has been a miserable season for travelling fans as they will have witnessed the Yorkshire side lose 16 of their 17 league matches with the other one ending in a draw. Away to top 14 teams they have netted just four goals in 11 fixtures.

The Millers are a good team for over 2.5 goal backers with 24 of their 33 going over and this rises to 14 of 17 in away ties. The Millers have failed to find the net in each of their last six away from home. Nine of the last 12 they have conceded came in the second-half.

Brentford Team News

The Bees have doubts over Phillip Hofmann (back) though Alan Judge (broken leg) is back in training. Lewis Macleod (knee) will continue to be absent for this game.

Rotherham Team News

Deadline day signing Carlton Morris (hamstring) is the only injury concern for the Millers.
