Brentford vs Preston North End Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the top-half of the Championship with play-off ambitions. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Brentford have now suffered back-to-back defeats as they went down to a 3-0 defeat to Derby last time out. The Bees were up against it early as they had Sergi Canos sent-off after just 21 minutes. Preston made it back-to-back victories as they defeated Hull 2-1 at Deepdale in their last fixture. Gregory Cunningham and Alan Browne (penalty) got the goals that gave them all three points. In the reverse fixture at Deepdale it was an entertaining one with the Bees coming out on top 3-2 on that occasion. Nico Yennaris, Romaine Sawyers and Ollie Watkins bagged for the London outfit while Sean Maguire and Tom Barkhuizen scored for the Lillywhites.

Betting Tips and Predictions

It is hard to argue with the prices on offer which have Brentford as favourites despite their two recent defeats as this came against Derby and against Norwich in which they were unlucky not to get anything. Preston though are no mugs and have won at Cardiff and Bristol City in recent weeks so this looks a tough game to call. Both these sides have scored around two-thirds of their goals in the second-half so this looks the way into the game. Back the second 45 minutes to be the highest scoring and take YES in the both teams to score in the second-half market.

Brentford Preview

The Bees promotion bid has stalled of late with two straight defeats and three from their last five. They are down to 11th but the play-offs are just eight points away and with 16 games remaining they have plenty of time. At Griffin Park, they have won three of their last four and lost just one of their last 14 though this did come last time out at their own ground to Norwich. Just one of their last five in front of their own fans has seen both teams score and this is the same number of games that have gone over 2.5 goals. Just 14 of the 42 league goals that Brentford have scored this season have come in the opening 45 minutes. Just one of their last four and two of their last six have been level going into the interval.

Brentford Team News

Rico Henry (cruciate) is a long-term absentee while Sergi Canos is suspended.

Preston North End Preview

The Lillywhites are four league matches unbeaten winning each of the last two and losing just one of their last 14. They are in seventh place and are just three points away from the play-offs. Away from Deepdale, they are unbeaten in their last seven taking all three points in four of these. Only three sides have a better road record than North-End who have shipped just 15 on their travels. After the deadline sale of Jordan Hugill no Preston player has more than five goals this season which is the amount of goals scored by Tom Barkhuizen. Around 65% of their league goals this season have come in the second-half.

Preston North End Team News

Ben Davies and Sean Maguire (both hamstring) are doubts for this game
