This Saturday afternoon game (15:00) features two sides with ambitions of a play-off place this season. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. It was a disappointing start to the season for Brentford who many are tipping for big things as they went down 1-0 to Sheffied United. A Billy Sharp goal proved the difference that day and despite an improved second-half showing they could not comeback. Nottingham Forest got their season off to a winning start as they defeated Millwall 1-0 in a closely fought game. A debut goal from Barrie McKay proved to be the difference between the pair. Brentford have enjoyed the better of the recent encounters between the pair winning each of the last four and going unbeaten in six head-to-heads. This fixture last season ended 1-0 to Brentford while a Lasse Vibe brace gave them victory at Forest in a 3-2 thriller.

Betting Tips and Predictions

You think if Brentford are the dark-horse pick for the top six then they need to win the home games but I am not sure I trust them enough to pick them to do so at short odds. Forest, rode their luck against Millwall and need to show more away form before I trust them though it is a competitive price on them to win the match. In summary, the match markets are best swerved for other value. I suspect we might have to wait for goals here between two well matched midfields so I would take a stand against early goals. Brentford Preview

Brentford had a decent home record last season with 11 wins, five draws and just seven defeats their 23 league games. They ended in good form at Griffin Park with four victories from their final five matches. Although they did lose their opening league game they saw more of the ball and created more chances than their opponents and can take heart from a strong second-half showing. Jota was probably the pick of their players in that game as he registered four shots two of which were on target and he looks an option in the scorer markets. In midweek, they need extra-time to see off League One side AFC Wimbledon in the League Cup. They shared the goals around with one each for Romaine Sawyers, Ollie Watkins and Justin Shaibu.

Nottingham Forest Preview

On the road, it was a real struggle for Forest last season who are on a run of 13 games without victory on their travels in the league. A lack of goals has been an issue with just one netted away in their last six. Forest won their opening game 1-0 though the statistics suggest that they were a little lucky as Millwall created a lot more scoring chances. The East Midlands side played a very attacking lineup with four attacking players behind striker Daryl Murphy and of those it was Ben Brereton who caught the eye most getting into great attacking positions. In the League Cup, they saw off Shrewsbury 2-1 at the City Ground to book their place in the next round. The goalscorers that day were Mustapha Carayol and Jason Cummings before the Shrewsbury replied through a penalty but it was too little too late.
