Brentford vs Millwall Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) game is an all London battle between two sides in the bottom-half of the table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Brentford battled out a 2-2 draw at Middlesbrough in their last game before the international break. They twice took the lead (through Ollie Watkins and Yoann Barbet) but were twice pegged back and had to settle for a point. Millwall will be disappointed with their last performance as they lost at home to Barnsley 3-1. The Lions only goal of the game came through Lee Gregory who netted a penalty just before half-time. The last time these two met came in March 2015 and that was also at Griffin Park and ended in a 2-2 draw. Lee Gregory netted in that game and has scored in his last two appearances against the Bees.

Betting Tips and Predictions

It is hard to argue with the prices on offer here, Brentford with home advantage should be favourites but given a tendency to draw games I would not be rushing to back them to see off Millwall. Given both sides are right on the middle of the 2.5 goal line (Brentford average 2.55 per fixture and Millwall 2.45) I am surprised to see that under 2.5 goals is a strong outsider and think that looks worth taking. Each of the last three for the Bees at their own ground has gone under while four of five for the Lions on the road has done the same. I also think it looks worth a small interest on the goals to go under two which has again happened in four of five Millwall road trips.

Brentford Preview

It has been five points from their last three for the Bees who have started the slow climb out of the relegation spots. They sat in 19th place going into the international break with three of their next four fixtures against sides in the bottom half. At home, they have not won any of their five league games though four of these have ended in a draw. Both teams to score has happened in four of five though just two of them have gone over 2.5 goals. Ollie Watkins has netted in each of the last three while Yoann Barbet has two in the last three. Around 60% of the goals they have scored have come in the second-half with 39% coming in the final 15 minutes.

Millwall Preview

It has been a decent start to life back in the Championship for the Lions who have taken 13 points and sit in 14th place after 11 games. Defeat last time out put to an end a run of four games without defeat. On the road, they have taken just three points from their five fixtures with two defeats and three losses. These matches have been low scoring with a single 2-2 draw and the other four featuring no more than goal. Millwall have netted 14 and conceded 13 which has them right in the middle of the goals for and goals against table. They have been ahead at half-time in just two of their 11 so far though six of these have been all-square.
