Brentford vs Millwall Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture is an all London affair between two sides in the bottom-half of the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Brentford lost their third straight game and extended their winless run to eight with a 1-0 road loss at Norwich. The Bees started the game strongly but the Canaries in the end were deserved winners.

Millwall made it back-to-back victories with a comfortable 3-0 victory over bottom of the table Ipswich. Lee Gregory grabbed a brace and Ryan Leonard one as the Lions coasted to all three points.

The two meetings between these sides last season were both won 1-0 by the side hosting the fixture. It means that the Bees have lost just two of their six previous clashes against the Lions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Brentford are strong favourites to win here but no win in eight anywhere and no win in three they do not look backable. Millwall could be set for a good run though their poor away form does concern me with just two road points all season.

Three of the last four Bees home games have gone under 2.5 goals and with the Lions not exactly prolific on the road I think this makes sense especially as it this outsider of the two markets.

The last three at Griffin Park have been level going into the break and this looks a way into a fixture that will be competitive as it is an all London encounter.

Brentford Preview

The Bees have slid down to 16th following a run of just four points from their previous eight matches. They have back-to-back London derbies before four straight against sides in the current top eight.

At Griffin Park, they are winless in three having won the first four of the season though two of these three ended in a draw. Six of the last nine (including two from last season) at their own ground have seen both teams net.

Brentford are the fifth highest scorers in the division with 23 goals with 11 of these coming from Frenchman Neal Maupay. Their defence has shipped 20 times though just six of these have come at home.

Brentford Team News

Marcus Foss (back) and Julien Jeanvier (foot) are doubts while Rico Henry (fitness) and Josh Dasilva (unknown) are closing in on returns.  Emiliano Marcondes (also foot) and Marcuss Foss (back) are ruled out though.

Millwall Preview

The Lions have taken ten points from their last five and have climbed up the table into 18th just two places and two points behind their opponents here. They now face back-to-back road games with a trip to Brentford followed by a trip to Carrow Road.

Away from the Den, they are without a win in seven and have taken just two road points this season. The London outfit have seen both teams score and over 3.5 goals in their last two away matches.

Millwall have a mid-level ranked attack with 19 goals though 12 in their last six suggests they have sorted their issues out at that end. The defence has shipped 23 which is at the higher end though they did keep only their second clean sheet of the campaign on Saturday.

Millwall Team News

They have no injuries or suspensions ahead of this fixture.
