Brentford vs Middlesbrough Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the race for the Championship play-offs.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Brentford made it back-to-back defeats in midweek as they went down 3-1 at home to Cardiff.  They had taken a fifth minute lead through Neal Maupay but found themselves 2-1 down at half-time and the Bluebirds wrapped up the points in the 58th minute.

Middlesbrough made it three straight victories last weekend as they defeated Barnsley 3-1 at the Riverside Stadium.  The Teesiders were two up in 18 minutes through Daniel Ayala and Adama Traore and Patrick Bamford continued his recent form with a third to wrap up the points.

The reverse fixture came at the end of September and it ended in a 2-2 draw.  The Bees twice took the lead (first through Yoann Barnet and then Ollie Watkins) only to be pegged back twice with Martin Braithwaite and Fabio the goalscorers.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I quite the look of Middlesbrough here in the draw no bet market given they are unbeaten in five winning four of these.  Brentford have lost three of their last four including to Millwall and Leeds side who are not as good as the Teesiders.

Patrick Bamford is in red-hot form with eight goals from his last five appearances netting at least once in each of these and I would have though his price to score at any time would have been much shorter so side with the Boro frontman.

Brentford Preview

A run of two straight defeats and three from their last four has hit the play-off hopes of the Bees.  They are in 11th place eight points behind their opponents here who occupy sixth place and the final play-off spot.

At Griffin Park, they have won just one of their last four losing two of these.  The last two in front of their own fans have gone over 2.5 goals but before that it was just one of the six previous.

Both teams to score is not a common occurrence in Brentford league games with this happening in just two of their last 13.  They are looking to put to an end a run of ten straight meetings with Boro without a victory.

Brentford Team News

Rico Henry (knee) is a long-term absentee while Florian Jozefzoon (foot) and Andreas Bjelland (unknown) are doubts.

Middlesbrough Preview

Boro are in good form having taken 13 points from their last five fixtures that sees them in sixth place in the table.  They face a couple of tricky looking games with this one followed by a meeting with leaders Wolves.

Away from the Riverside Stadium, they have won four, drawn one and lost just two of their last seven.  Just one of their last five on the road has seen both teams score though the six prior to that all did.

Patrick Bamford is in excellent goalscoring form and has netted in each of his last five and eight in total in these matches.  Five of the last seven Middlesbrough have scored have come in the first-half.

Middlesbrough Team News

Grant Leadbitter (hamstring) and Fabio (thigh) are doubts while Rudy Gestede (broken ankle) is unlikely to play again this season.
