Brentford vs Hull City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Sunday afternoon (12:30) fixture features two sides with nothing to play for on the final day of the season.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Brentford saw their seven-game unbeaten run come to an end last time out going down 2-0 to Barnsley.  The scoreline was probably a little harsh on the Bees who saw their play-off hopes for the season come to an end.

Hull meanwhile found themselves second best as they suffered a home loss to promotion chasing Cardiff.  The Tigers found themselves one down after 32 minutes and then the game was beyond them in the 80th minute.

The reverse fixture came in December with Hull shading it 3-2 thanks to a goal each from Kamil Grosicki, Seb Larsson and Jackson Irvine.  John Egan and an own-goal kept the Bees in it but they saw their winless run stretched to three against the Tigers.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Brentford are the favourites to win this game though at the odds and with nothing on the line it is hard to back them.  Hull have a few injuries and performances seem to have dropped a little since they secured their safety.

Over 2.5 goals seems to be the favourite because the Tigers have been involved in high-scoring games recently.  I think though they have over compensated for this is in the market and with neither side having much to play for this could be a low-scoring affair.  Under 2.5 goals looks the value call as does NO in the both teams to score market.

Brentford Preview

The Bees tendency to draw has cost them this season with their 14 draws meaning they cannot finish in the top six.  The highest they can finish is seventh and the lowest they can finish is 11th.

At Griffin Park, they are unbeaten in their last four and have lost just three times in the season.  37 of their 68 points in the Championship this year has come in front of their own fans.

Four of the last six Brentford have played have seen one or both teams fail to find the back of net with just one of their last eight going over 2.5 goals.  Neal Maupay (12) and Ollie Watkins (ten) have been their top scorers this season and it is important that the club keeps both players this summer.

Rico Henry (knee) is their only doubt ahead of this fixture

Hull City Preview

The Tigers suffered just their second defeat in their last seven last time out going down 2-0 last weekend.  They are stuck in 18th and manager Nigel Adkins has done a decent job keeping them up after some early struggles under Leonid Slutsky.

Away from the KC Stadium, they have had a mixed bag recently with three victories, two draws and three defeats in their last eight.  Their last eight on their travels have produced a combined 34 goals which is an average of over four per fixture.

Harry Wilson has found the back of the net four times in his last five appearances while Kamil Grosicki has three in his last five.  Around 56% of their goals have come in the second 45 minutes.

Hull City Team News

Angus MacDonald (shoulder), Kamil Grosicki (unknown), Evandro (groin) and Moses Odubajo (knee) are doubts.  James Weir (also knee) is a long-term absentee.
