Brentford vs Eastleigh Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Eastleigh will be looking to make history by making the FA Cup 4th round when they travel to the Griffin Park to take on Brentford on Saturday afternoon. Brentford managed a comfortable 1-3 victory on the road against Birmingham last time out in the Championship to end their three-game winless streak. Scott Hogan and Nicholas Yennaris both got on the scoresheet for Brentford in the second half, while an own-goal from Birmingham’s midfielder David Davis established the final score. Meanwhile, Eastleigh also picked up a victory last time out in the Vanarama National League, winning 0-1 on the road at Boreham Wood thanks to a second-half goal from Scott Wilson. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Brentford Preview

Brentford have finally returned to winning ways in the Championship on Monday thanks to a 1-3 away win at Birmingham City. The win lifts Brentford in 14th place in the standings with 33 points under their belts thanks to a record of 9 wins, 6 draws and 10 defeats from their opening 25 league fixtures. Brentford’s recent form has been decent as they have only lost once in their last six league fixtures. The Bees can count on their home form ahead of this clash, as they have only lost three of their 12 home fixtures in the Championship so far this season. However, their recent record in the FA Cup hasn’t been very good, as they have been eliminated in the third and second round of the competition over the past four years. Brentford have lost four of their last five games in the FA Cup and failed to score in three of these. On home soil, Brentford are winless in two FA Cup fixtures since a 5-0 win over Staines Town back in November 2013. Scott Hogan is a player to watch for Brentford, as the 24-year-old midfielder is currently leading the club’s goalscoring charts with 14 goals in his 25 appearances in the Championship.

Eastleigh Preview

On the other hand, Eastleigh have struggled for consistency in the Vanarama National League over the past two months, winning three, losing four and drawing three of their last ten games across all competitions. However, they did well to record a 5-3 win over Halifax in the FA Cup during this recent run to qualify in this stage of the competition. Prior to these games, Eastleigh beat North Leigh and Swindon in the first rounds of the competition. This means that they are currently on a five-game unbeaten run in the FA Cup this season, winning three and drawing twice in the process. On the road, Eastleigh won five of their last six games in the FA Cup, scoring at least two goals in each of these. Regarding their Vanarama National League campaign, Eastleigh find themselves only in 11th place in the standings tied on 39 points with Chester and Gateshead, and nine points off the top five. Eastleigh looked decent going forward throughout their Vanarama National League campaign so far this season, scoring 40 goals in 26 rounds. Mikael Mandron has been their most prolific player in front of goal this season, as he is leading the club’s goalscoring charts with 10 goals in his 25 league appearances.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Brentford still have enough firepower to grab a victory in this one despite their recent struggle. They have only lost three of their 12 home fixtures in the Championship this season, while Eastleigh have only won two of their last five away games in all competitions. I’m backing Brentford to win, but I’m also expecting Eastleigh to score as they have netted at least two goals in each of their last six away games in the FA Cup.
