Brentford vs Brighton & Hove Albion Match Prediction

By Charlotte Louise Bushell

We have one Sunday afternoon (15:00) clash in the Championship this weekend as Brentford play host to Brighton.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

It was an impressive performance by Brentford in midweek that saw them defeat Aston Villa 3-0 thanks to a brace from Lasse Vibe and one from Nico Yennaris.

Brighton lost only their fourth game of the season as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Huddersfield with Tomer Hemed getting their only goal in a game that also saw Lewis Dunk receive a red card.

Scott Hogan grabbed a double when these sides met in the reverse fixture handing Brentford all three points and making the Bees the only side to have won at Brighton in the League this season.

Brentford Preview

14 points from their last nine games has enabled Brentford to move away from the relegation zone and going into the weekend fixtures they were a comfortable 11 points above the side in 22nd.

The London outfit tend to be involved in good games to watch for the neutral with each of their last six going over 2.5 goals. Overs would have paid in six of their last seven home matches also.

The loss of top scorer Scott Hogan to Aston Villa was a blow, but Lasse Vibe has stepped up in his absence. The Dane has scored four goals in the last five Brentford fixtures. Nico Yennaris has bagged two in the last four in the league.

Brighton Preview

It is back-to-back defeats for Brighton and three in their last five, and while they still sit top of the table going into the weekend games, there might be a few people starting to worry especially as Leeds, Reading and Huddersfield are starting to gain some ground.

The Seagulls have shipped five goals in their last two away games and not kept a clean sheet in any of their last five on their travels.  If the defence is starting to fail, they need more from their attack especially Glenn Murray who has not found the net since December 27th.

The South Coast side are currently quite good for overs backers with seven of their last ten going above 2.5 goals, and both teams to score has happened in five of their last six on their travels.

Over 2.5 goals in this game

Betting Tips and Prediction

Both these sides have been in games with goals recently, so I am surprised to see overs available at such good odds.  Over 2.5 goals would have paid in seven of the last ten for Brighton and each of the last six for Brentford.

Each of the last six Bees games has seen a goal before the 30th minute while this has been the case in seven of the last 11 Seagulls fixtures.  It looks worth an interest then in the time of the first goal market which stands at 32:00.
