Brentford vs Birmingham City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) game features two sides who drew at the weekend and is live on Sky Sports (behind the red button).   Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Brentford needed a 92nd minute Yoann Berbet goal to rescue a home point against Reading last time out.  Neal Maupay was also on the score sheet (his ninth of the season) in a match the Bees dominated but had to settle for a draw in.

Birmingham also fought back for a point coming from two goals down at half-time at home to Ipswich to draw 2-2.  Lukas Jutkiewicz grabbed a brace as the Blues claimed a point that was the least they deserved from the match.

The two meetings between these sides last season saw the London outfit come out on top on both occasions winning 5-0 at home and 2-0 on the road.  Neal Maupay netted in both clashes while Ollie Watkins scored three times.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Given Birmingham have won at Leeds and drawn at Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest in recent weeks I think they look value to get something from this fixture and will side with them alongside the draw in the double chance market.  Brentford needed a late goal to get a point against Reading and are struggling a little at the moment.

With three goals in three on the road then Che Adams looks the perfect player to score at any time as he uses his pace to effect on the counter.

Brentford Preview

The Bees are now without a victory in three (two of these have finished all-square) though they still have lost just twice this season.  They sit in sixth place with 16 points and will need a morale boosting victory before a clash with Leeds next weekend.

At Griffin Park, they had won four straight before that weekend draw with Reading and have now lost just two times at their own ground in 2018.  The London outfit have netted in both halves in each of their five in front of their own fans.

It is an average of 3.0 goals per fixture for Brentford this season with an even split of five and five in the under/over market.  Each of their last three and seven of ten for the season have seen both teams net.

Brentford Team News

Rico Henry (knee) and Emilano Marcondes (unknown) remain long-term absentees while Said Benrahma will miss the game following a red-card against Reading last time out.

Birmingham City Preview

It is now six without defeat for the Blues but they continue their remarkable drawing trend with five of the last six and seven of ten for these season ending all-square.  They sit 16th in the table and four of their next five are against teams not in the top ten.

Away from St Andrew’s, they lost their first two of the campaign but are unbeaten in their last three with two draws and a victory.  Che Adams has netted three times in his last three on the road.

Birmingham average the 22nd highest amount of goals with 1.9 per fixture with six of their ten going under 2.5 goals.  Four of their last six including each of their last two have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Birmingham City Team News

Gary Gardner (head) and Craig Gardner (knock) are doubts while David Davis (ankle) and Isaac Vassell (thigh) are long-term absentees
