Borussia Moenchengladbach vs VfB Stuttgart Match Prediction

By William Hall

Borrusia Monchengladbach welcome Stuttgart to the Stadion I'm Borussia Park on Tuesday the 19th of September which sees 9th take on 10th in the Bundesliga. Both sides come into this one of the back of positive results with M'gladbach managing to pick up a point in a 2-2 thriller away to RB Leipzig and Stuttgart beating Wolfsburg 1-0 at home. With both teams looking very evenly matched, it shapes up to be an entertaining encounter. Read on for a full match preview complete with all our best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Borrusia M'gadback will be a bit disappointed with how they have started the new season with only five points on the board. However, they will see this as a real opportunity to get their season up and running after previously putting Stuttgart to the sword in their last four meetings. A lot of confidence can be taken from the draw in the last match, with RB Leipzig being one of the better sides in the Bundesliga. M'gladbachs home form tends to be pretty reliable, and with just one defeat in their last four at Borussia Park, it makes it a daunting prospect for opponents.

Stuttgart tend to struggle away from home in the Bundesliga. They have been unable to win a game in their last nine on the road, losing six which stretches back into the 2015/16 season. With Borrusia M'gladbach yet to have punished any teams this season, I have the feeling they could go out this week and want to put a few past a Stuttgart side who have struggled with them in the past.

Borussia Moenchengladbach Preview

Borussia M'gladbach would have been delighted to have picked up a point in their last outing away at RB Leipzig, coming from behind twice in the game as it ended 2-2. Things didn't start well for Gladbach in the match, going behind after just 17 minutes. However, they were given a lifeline midway through the first half with a penalty which was coolly taken by Thorgan Hazard. It was just six minutes later when the home team regained the advantage as Augustin put Leipzig back in front. M'gladbach never looked as if they were out of the game and in the 61st minute the persistence paid off as Lars Stindl made it 2-2. Borussia M'gladbach haven't at this time got a player who is running away with the scoring, which five players all on 1. With M'gladbach currently 10th in the Bundesliga, they will be hoping to jump above their opponents this weekend. A win could take them as high as 5th if other results go their way.

Borussia Moenchengladbach Team News

Borussia Monchengladbach have a long absence list for this one with Tobias Strobl (ACL), Laszlo Benes (broken foot), Ibrahima Traore (thigh injury), Kwame Yeboah (muscle injury), Jonas Hofmann (muscle injury) all out. Vincenzo Grifo, Mamadou Doucoure and Josip Drmic are also doughts for the game but could make an appearance.

VfB Stuttgart Preview

Stuttgart have managed to pick up six points so far this season with two wins and two defeats. They do come into this one of the back of one of those defeats which saw them beat Wolfsburg 1-0 on home soil. Although they got the job done, it was a very nervy affair and really could have gone anyway. It was a goal just before halftime which won the game with Chadrac Akolo smashing home from close range the difference. Stuttgart have struggled to pick many points up at all away from home, losing all of their last five and without a win in nine. This is a record they will want to put to bed this weekend, but with the side losing all of their last four meetings with Borussia M'gladbach, it looks like it could be a tough evening for the team.

VfB Stuttgart Team News

It's a lot of injuries for the away side with Carlos Mane (knee injury) and Emiliano Snsua (knee injury) both out. Matthias Zimmermann, Christian Gentner, Chadrac Akolo, Holger Badstuber, Daniel Ginczek and Anto Grgic are all doughts for the game, but the manager will be hoping some are ready to start the game.
