Borussia Moenchengladbach vs Darmstadt Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Borussia Moenchengladbach will look to end their Bundesliga campaign on a high note when they welcome the already-relegated Darmstadt at the Stadion im BORUSSIA-PARK on Saturday afternoon. Borussia Moenchengladbach only managed a 1-1 away draw at Wolfsburg last weekend, despite the fact that Jannik Vestergaard gave them the lead in the 24th minute. On the flip side, Darmstadt suffered a 0-2 home loss at the hands of Hertha Berlin, with Torsten Frings’s men conceding both goals in the first half. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

I think that Borussia Moenchengladbach will return to winning ways in this one as Darmstadt have been the worst away team in the division, losing 15 of their 16 league trips this season. In addition, M’Gladbach are undefeated in their last three meetings with Darmstadt across all competitions, conceding just twice in the process.

Borussia Moenchengladbach Preview

Borussia Moenchengladbach have been one of the most underperforming teams in the Bundesliga throughout the season, but they looked a bit better recently. The Foals come into this tie on the back of a three-game unbeaten run in the league, including a 1-1 away draw at Wolfsburg last time out. This leaves M’Gladbach in 9th spot in the standings with 44 points under their belts after 33 rounds, four points off the European places with just one game to go. This means that M’Gladbach won’t compete in the European competitions next season, which is a big disappointment as they did well to reach the Europa League quarter-finals this season. Keeping the ball out of their own net has been M’Gladbach biggest problem this season, as they hold one of the worst defensive records in the division with 47 goals conceded in 33 rounds. Their recent home form has also been an issue as Borussia Moenchengladbach have only won two of their last ten home fixtures across all competitions. The good news is that Borussia Moenchengladbach are unbeaten in their last three meetings with Darmstadt in the Bundesliga, keeping a clean sheet in two of these.

Borussia Moenchengladbach Team News

Nico Elvedi, Tony Jantschke, Thorgan Hazard and Mamadou Doucoure are all doubts, but Josip Drmic and Oscar Wendt are both missing through injury.

Darmstadt Preview

Darmstadt showed some fighting spirit in the second half of April by winning three league games in a row, but they were brought back down to Earth recently. They suffered a narrow 1-0 loss on the road at Bayern Munich a fortnight ago and followed this up with a 0-2 home defeat at the hands of Hertha Berlin last weekend. They will finish the season on the bottom of the league table regardless the output of this game. Actually, Darmstadt have been the worst team in the Bundesliga over the past ten years, having collected just 24 points from their 33 league outings. They are definitely the worst away team in the division, having lost 15 of their 16 league trips so far this season while scoring just eight goals. Darmstadt also struggled to find the back of the net throughout this Bundesliga campaign, scoring just 26 goals in 33 league games. Their joint top scorers are Mario Vrancic and Antonio-Mirko Colak with just four goals each under their belts. Jerome Gondorf has also enjoyed a decent campaign, helping the team with three goals and four assists in his 28 league appearances.

Darmstadt Team News

Peter Niemeyer and Terrence Boyd are both out through injury, while Michael Esser is a doubt.
