Borussia Dortmund vs Borussia Moenchengladbach Match Prediction

By William Hall

Top of the league Borussia Dortmund welcome 7th place Borussia M'gladbach to Signal Iduna Park on Saturday afternoon in the Bundesliga. Dortmund have had almost the perfect start to the season with four wins and a draw up to now. Their most recent win came away from home to Hamburger, where they won 3-0 thanks to goals from Kagawa, Aubameyang and Pulisic. M'gladbach have had an inconsistent start to the campaign, winning two, drawing two and losing one. However, one of those wins came in their last game as they beat Stuttgart 2-0 on home soil. Confidence will be taken from that and taken into this tough fixture with Dortmund. Read on for a full match preview complete with all our best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

When you look at the form, both sides are on, for me there is only going to be one winner this weekend. Dortmund have won all four of the last four meetings between the two clubs showing they know how to beat them. On three of the occasions, they have managed to beat them by the -1 goal handicap which could be another good shout this weekend. With the form Aubameyang is currently on, it is hard to see the leaky defence of M'gladbach coping with his pace, power and all-around quality.

Borussia Dortmund are yet to concede a goal this season which is some record, considering they have played five games against some good sides. In all honesty, I could see them doing the same again this weekend against a Gladbach side who will be solely concentrating on keeping the attacking presence of Dortmund quite. Borussia M'gladbach come into this one of the back of good results, but the difference in opposition quality this weekend will be massive. If they are to get anything, they will need to play out of their skins.

Borussia Dortmund Preview

As mentioned, Borussia Dortmund have been on fire so far this season. Winning four and drawing one of their opening five games which has put them top of the Bundesliga at this early stage. In fact, they haven't just been winning games; they have been thrashing sides which is a huge statement to the league and in particular, Bayern Munich who are always the biggest contenders for the league title. As expected, Aubaneyang has been the main man for Dortmund up to now, scoring five goals in five games. After a lot of speculation linking him away from the club in the summer, it seems he has put his head down again and doing everything he can to help his current side.

Borussia Dortmund Team News

Borussia Dortmund have many doubts for this game with Andre Schurrle (thigh injury), Marc Barta (groin injury), Mario Gotze (jaw injury), Jeremy Toljan (thigh injury) and Sebastian Rode (groin injury) all close to returning, but whether they will play or not this weekend is unknown. Dortmund also have four player defiantly out this weekend with Eric Durm (hip injury), Marcel Schmelzer (ankle injury), Marco Reus (ACL) and Raphael Guerreiro (foot injury) all sidelined.

Borussia Moenchengladbach Preview

Borussia M'gladbach won't be annoyed with the start they have had, but they also won't be best pleased. A win on the opening day at home to Cologne was the perfect start, but a run of three games without a win after that saw them slip right down the table quickly. However, a win in their last match at home to Stuttgart could revive the confidence around the camp, and they will defiantly need it if they are going to bring Dortmund's run to an end this weekend. It's not like the side are lacking goals, having scored in all games bar one so far this season. It is the amount they are conceding which is the worrying things. If they can start to tighten up the defence, they would be a force in the Bundesliga.

Borussia Moenchengladbach Team News

M'gladbach also have a number of players who are doubtful this weekend. Here is the list of doubts; Josip Drmic (knee injury), Jonas Hoffmann (muscle injury), Mamadou Doucoure (thigh injury), Vincenzo Grigo (knee injury), Christoph Kramer (head injury), Kwame Yeboah (muscle injury) and Yann Sommer (knee injury). Their are also a few defiantly out this weekend with Ibrahima Traore (thigh injury), Laszlo Benes (broken foot and Tobias Strobl (ACL) all recovering from long term injuries.
