Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich Match Prediction

By William Hall

Although it is still early in the season, this game is enormous for both sides as Borussia Dortmund welcome Bayern Munich to Signal Iduna Park in the Bundesliga. Borussia Dortmund had an outstanding start to the season and at one point were five points clear of Bayern Munich. However, with two defeats and a draw in their last three games, it now not left them three points adrift of their title rivals. Bayern have been excellent since Heynckes took over with six straight wins in all competitions, they will be looking to extend that this weekend as well as making the gap between the two more prominent. Read on for a full match preview complete with all our best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Over the years this fixture has produced some thrillers and in honesty both sides have had their fair share of wins. However, when the two meet you can always be to see a lot of goals with all three of the lost meetings not just going over 2.5, but smashing the over 3.5 goals market and with both sides having strikers in outrageous form, I can see it being the same case this weekend. Here are my favourite betting tips and predictions for the game.

Over 2.5 goals - 1/2

Bayern Munich & Over 3.5 goals - 3/1

Borussia Dortmund saw over 1.5 goals in 7 out of their last 10 games played against Bayern Munich

Borussia Dortmund Preview

Borussia Dortmund will be very disappointed to have dropped eight points from their last three games with defeats to Leipzig and Hannover as well as a 2-2 draw away to Eintracht Frankfurt. A significant response will be needed this weekend but beating Bayern Munich is always a task which is easier said than done. Aubameyang has been the leading man for Dortmund once again this season with ten goals in ten games already. He will need to be on the top of his game if Dortmund are to stand a chance.

Borussia Dortmund Team News

Borussia Dortmund have six players out this weekend with Mahmoud Dahoud (neck injury), Eric Durm (hip injury), Sebastian Rode (groin injury), Lukasz Piszczek (knee injury), Marco Reus (ACL) and Dan-Axel Zagadou (suspension) all sidelined.

Bayern Munich Preview

Bayern Munich have been outstanding since they brought the new manager in and now find themselves sitting three points top of the Bundesliga and with a chance to extend that hugely this weekend. Bayern have a player of their own who is in great form and as you may have guessed that is Poland international, Robert Lewandowski. He has also scored ten in ten for the side this season and will see this as an excellent chance to extend that this weekend. If he is on form, Dortmund will find it very hard to stop him.

Bayern Munich Team News

Bayern Munich also have a long list of absentees with Juan Bernat (ankle injury), Frank Ribery (knee injury), Manuel Neuer (broken foot), Thomas Muller (thigh injury) all out. Robert Lewandowski (thigh injury), Jerome Boateng (muscle injury), Kingsley Coman (Achilles tendon) and Mat Hummels (physical discomfort) are all worries and could also be out.
