Bordeaux vs Monaco Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Monaco will look to close the gap at the top of the Ligue 1 table when they travel to the Stade Matmut-Atlantique to take on Bordeaux on Saturday afternoon. Bordeaux suffered an embarrassing 1-0 defeat on the road at the newly-promoted Amiens at the weekend, despite the fact they had a better ball possession and more goalscoring attempts than the hosts. On the other hand, Monaco won 2-0 at home over Caen thanks to goals from Balde Keita and Radamel Falcao. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview. Feel free to visit our Bet of the day page to check our best daily tips.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Monaco looked bit better than Bordeaux recently, but Les Girondins have been in splendid shape on home soil over the past eight months. In addition, Bordeaux have won three of their last four home meetings with Monaco across all competitions, scoring at least three goals in three of these. I’m backing goals in this one and I also expect Bordeaux to secure a positive result.

Bordeaux Preview

Bordeaux have endured a disappointing run of form over the past month, losing two and drawing once in their last three league fixtures. They fought back from one-goal down to only secure a 1-1 home draw against Nantes a fortnight ago and followed this up with a narrow 1-0 away defeat at the newly-promoted Amiens on Saturday. Prior to this poor run of form, Les Girondins were on a seven-game unbeaten streak in Ligue 1. They still sit in a comfortable 7th position in the Ligue 1 table, but they are already six points behind the second-placed and their Saturday’s opponents Monaco. Keeping the ball out of their own net has been their main issue throughout this campaign, as they hold the joint worst defensive record in top ten with 15 goals conceded in ten rounds. The good news is that Bordeaux managed a decent tally of 16 goals in this term. Malcom is the team’s goalscorer at the moment with five goals and four assists under his belt, while Younousse Sankhare has also helped the team with four goals in nine league appearances. In addition, Bordeaux have enjoyed an impressive run of form on home soil over the past eight months as they are currently on a 16-game unbeaten streak across all competitions. They have also won three of their last four home meetings with Monaco across all competitions, scoring at least three goals in each of these.

Bordeaux Team News

Youssouf Sabaly, Jules Kounde and Malcom Filipe Silva de Oliveira are all doubts, while Gaetan Laborde is missing through injury.

Monaco Preview

Meanwhile, Monaco have finally got back to winning ways on Saturday as they beat Caen 2-0 at home. Prior to this result, the Monegasques were on a four-game winless streak across all competitions, conceding at least two goals in three of these. During this run, Monaco have suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of FC Porto and Besiktas in the Champions League and they are yet to win after three rounds. Leonardo Jardim’s men are rock bottom of the group G table with just one point to their name after three group fixtures, but they can still qualify for the knockout stages as they are just three points behind the second-placed RB Leipzig with three games to go. Regarding their Ligue 1 campaign, Monaco sit second in the standings with 22 points after ten round, three points adrift of the current leaders Paris Saint Germain, who travel to Marseille this Sunday. They have been scoring goals for fun throughout this campaign as they are currently the league’s second goalscorers with 26 goals in ten rounds. Radamel Falcao has been in splendid shape in this early part of the season, as he is currently leading the Ligue 1’s goalscoring charts with 13 goals in his nine league appearances.

Monaco Team News

Djibril Sidibe, Rachid Ghezzal and Guido Marcelo Carrillo are all doubts, while Loic Badiashile is out through a shoulder injury. The good news is that Stevan Jovetic and Pierre-Daniel Nguinda are both back in training.
