Bolton Wanderers vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the bottom-half of the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Bolton picked up just their first league victory of the season as they defeated Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 last time out. Wanderers had a goal each from Sammy Ameobi and a Sam Hutchinson own-goal to thank as they claimed three points. QPR only managed a 1-1 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last time out in a game the expected goals data suggests they should have won comfortably. Idrissa Sylla did net once but they are struggling to find a cutting edge up front. The last time these two sides met in Lancashire was in February 2016 in a game that ended 1-1 though just two of the previous 13 have ended all-square. Eight of their last 11 battles have gone over 2.5 goals.

Betting Tips and Predictions

If you think that Sunderland and Bolton are of a similar ability (and the league table currently suggests they are) then QPR might just be worth an interest here. The Rs should have easily beaten Sunderland but failed to convert their chances while Bolton rode their luck a little against Wednesday. Under 2.5 goals is not what the bookmakers are predicting but I think that makes the most sense. Both sides had an expected goals ratio of around 2.2 goals in their last game and a repeat of this would see us ease past 2.5 goals. Five of six league home games at the Macron have gone over 2.5 as have seven of the last ten in all competitions for the London outfit.

Bolton Wanderers Preview

After a victory, last time out there is still a lot of work to do for Bolton whoa are still bottom on just five points but with other sides struggling and two of their next three against teams in the lower 12 then they now have a small element of hope. At the Macron, it had been five straight defeats until they saw off Sheffield Wednesday last time out. Five of their six matches in front of their own fans have gone over 2.5 goals as well as the one played in the League Cup. Just one of their last nine Championship matches has been goalless at the interval. Around 67% of the goals they have netted have come in the second-half and 50% between the 60th and 75th minute.

Bolton Wanderers Team News

Derik Oside (groin), Will Buckley (hamstring), Aaron Wilbraham (hip) and Jem aracan (personal reasons) are all doubtful.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

It is now three draws from their last four the London side and six without a victory in the league. This is their only one of their next six that comes against a team currently in the bottom eight. Away from Loftus Road, it is six without a victory for the Rs though they have drawn three times and in each of their last two. Each of their last four on their travels has seen both teams find the back of the net. Only Sunderland and Bolton have picked a lower amount of points than the four the Hoops have taken from their last six. Nine of their 12 have seen a total of exactly two or three goals.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Jordan Cousins (hamstring), Jack Robinson (broken hand) and James Perch (dislocated kneecap) are doubts while Grant Hall (knee) and Nedum Onuoha (hamstring) are a few weeks away from a return.
