Bolton Wanderers vs Norwich City Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Bolton were involved in a six-goal thriller against Sunderland in midweek as the two sides battled out a 3-3 draw. Sammy Ameobi was tipped here to be the first-scorer and he did the business while Gary Madine and Karl Henry also got among the goals as the Trotters drew their third straight. Norwich suffered a second straight defeat as they went down 2-0 at home to Wolverhampton. The East Anglian side look to be running on empty at the moment and will be looking to the international break to refresh themselves as they did last time. The Canaries have dominated recent meetings between the duo winning the last four though they last played each other in April 2015. Cameron Jerome will welcome the chance to play against the Lancashire outfit as he grabbed a brace in his penultimate start against them.

Betting Tips and Predictions

On the strength of recent form Bolton look a decent bet but if you look at home/away form then suddenly Norwich seem like a good bet. This makes this tricky game to predict and I will be avoiding the match markets. The Canaries are conceding several goals from set-piece situations at the moment so backing a Trotters defender looks a decent play but which one? David Wheater has yet to net for the season but he did so on nine occasions in the last campaign and looks capable of doing so here. The East Anglian outfit also have a set-piece threat themselves in Timm Klose who scored two games ago and had a good chance to net against Wolves. The Swiss international is another who looks an each-way shout in the first goalscorer market.

Bolton Wanderers Preview

A run of four games without defeat (three of these have been drawn) has given Bolton fans cause for hope that they could still get out of relegation trouble. They still sit bottom but are no longer cut adrift at the bottom of the Championship table. At the Macron, they have won one, drawn one and lost five though have beat Sheffield Wednesday and drew with QPR in their last two. The six goals they have scored in front of their own fans is the joint second lowest in the league while the 14 they have shipped is the joint second worst in the division. They have taken the lead in each of their last four with all these coming before the 35th minute of the tie. In each of their last three they have conceded a goal in the last 15 minutes and each of their last four in the last 25 minutes.

Bolton Wanderers Team News

Reece Burke (hip) is a doubt as are Jem Karacan (personal) and Aaron Wilbraham (hip).

Norwich City Preview

After a strong run of form the Canaries look a tired team losing each of their last two in the league and three in all competitions. They still though are among several sides clustered around the play-offs and are about to embark up a run of games against sides outside the top eight. Away from Carrow Road, they have looked better with 13 of their 22 points this season coming on their travels. They have won each of their last four league away games and have conceded just once in these ties. Four of the last five Norwich matches have produced a total of exactly two or three goals. The East Anglian outfit have netted the first goal in just four of their last five Championship fixtures.

Norwich City Team News

Steven Naismith (groin), Alex Tettey (calf), Jamal Lewis (knee), Louis Thompson (Achilles), Matt Jarvis and Alex Pritchard (both ankle) continue to be long-term absentees. Striker Nelson Oliveira is also out for a few weeks with a calf problem.
