Bolton Wanderers vs Middlesbrough Match Prediction

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) game from the Macron Stadium features two sides who are expected to finish at different ends of the table this season. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Bolton continued their tough start to the season as they lost 4-0 at Hull in their last league game before the international break. They were three down in thirty minutes and despite creating a few chances themselves found the game beyond them. Middlesbrough were disappointed to be held to a home draw last time out as it finished 0-0 at the Riverside between them and Preston. North-End created the better chances and the home side had an inspired keeper in Darren Randolph to thank. The North-Eastern side tend to do well in meetings between the pair as they are unbeaten in their last six head-to-heads winning five of these. Four of their last five meetings have gone over 2.5 goals.
Betting Tips and Predictions
The prices look tricky because on the one side the gulf in class is clear, on the other the visitors have been poor on the road for months and this has not changed since they got relegated. I think Boro are the most likely winners but at those prices I would look elsewhere for my bets. If you include the League Cup all three visitors to the Macron this season have grabbed two or more goals and I think looks a better bet than taking Boro to win the game. I also think over 2.5 goals in the game looks worth an interest as while this may go against trends for the visitors it fits the trends for the home team and they might allow the North-Eastern side to play a more open style.

Bolton Wanderers Preview
Five games in and it has been a tough start for Bolton as they are still chasing their first victory of the league season with two draws and three defeats. Three of their next four are at home so they will hope that this is a good chance to get some points on the board. They need to tighten up at both ends having netted just four times this season in the league and at the other end only Norwich have shipped more than the ten they have conceded. Eight of the ten they have conceded in the league have come in the opening 45 minutes. It was a quiet deadline day for Bolton, who were unable to add to their squad other than former Cardiff winger Craig Noone. Manager Phil Parkinson has shown in the past good knowledge of the free-agent market and he will need to do so again to freshen up his side.
Bolton Wanderers Team News
David Wheater (back) is close to a return while Jem Karacan (unknown), Josh Vela (Ankle) and Sammy Ameobi (knee) are doubts.
Middlesbrough Preview
Two wins, one draw and two defeats means a solid start to the season but probably not as strong as a one they would have hoped to make. Three of their next four are on the road so they must start to improve their performances on the road. A lack of goals for Boro has been an issue with just four from the season though the defence has looked strong shipping just three times. This means the North-Eastern are not one to back in the overs markets with an average of just 1.4 goals per fixture. Exciting League One winger/wing-back Marvin Johnson was the main signing for Middlesbrough ahead of the transfer window closing. Johnson and Shotton joining suggest that Monk might revert to three men at the back with attacking wing-backs in Johnson and Christie.
