Bolton Wanderers vs Ipswich Town Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Bolton will be looking to bounce back from defeat after going down 2-0 at Griffin Park last time out. Wanderers can have few complaints about the result as the Bees dominated the game. Ipswich put to an end a run of three straight defeats by defeating Leeds 1-0 at Portman Road in their last game. The Yorkshire outfit had Eunan O’Kane after 37 minutes and Town finally took advantage and secured the points with a wnderful Bersant Celina goal in the 67th minute. The reverse fixture came in the middle of September at Portman Road and the Tractor Boys won that one 2-0. Cole Skuse and David McGoldrick got the goals to make it nine without a victory in head-to-heads for the Trotters.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Bolton have won three of their last four at home including a victory over Cardiff while Ipswich have lost each of their last three and five of their last seven on the road so I am surprised to see Wanderers as slight outsiders and as such they must be backed. None of the last six for the home side and just two of the last seven for the visitors have seen both teams find the back of the net and as such taking NO in the both teams to score market looks a sensible approach.

Bolton Wanderers Preview

It has been a mixed bag of late for the Trotters with four victories and four defeats from their last eight league games. They are one point and one place above the relegation zone and each of their next four is against a team in the top-half of the table. At the Macron Stadium, they are in good form with two straight victories and three of their last four. The 19 goals they have conceded at their own ground means they have the fourth lowest ranked defence in the league. Each of the last six Bolton league fixtures have gone under 2.5 goals and in total these ties have produced a total of just nine goals. None of these six have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Bolton Wanderers Team News

Karl Henry (hamstring) and Darren Pratley (broken leg) are out for another few weeks.

Ipswich Town Preview

The Tractor Boys secured their first victory from their last five league games with a 1-0 victory over Leeds last time. They sit in 12th place though four of their next five are against teams beneath them in the table. Away from Portman Road, they have lost each of their last three and won just one of their last seven. They have blanked in three of their last five on the road and have netted a total of just two goals. Just two of their last seven have gone over 2.5 goals though they have the second highest goal average per game this season in the division with 2.93 goals per fixture. 66% of their goals this season have come in the second-half with just 20% scored in the opening thirty minutes.

Ipswich Town Team News

Jordan Spence will miss the game through suspension while Emyr Huws is out for the season with a knee injury. Grant Ward (groin) and Adam Webster (Achilles) are rated doubtful.
