Bologna vs Torino Match Prediction

By Phill Barrs

After finishing in 15th place last season in Serie A, Bologna will look to get off to a good start when they play host to Torino, who finished in ninth last season on Sunday. Bologna started last season in decent form, but they really struggled toward the end of it and only held on due to the incompetence of the other sides fighting at the bottom. Unlike last year, though, they have already been eliminated from the Coppa Italia after they lost on Saturday 0-3 to Cittadella at home. That will do them no favors in this match against Torino. Torino, who were involved in many high-scoring matches last term, thumped Trapani in their Coppa Italia match, winning 7-1 at home. Andrea Belotti scored a brace, while Alex Berenguer, Joel Obi, Iago Falque, Lorenzo De Silvestri, and an own goal accounted for the others. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Bologna were putrid away from home last season, so most of their points came from home matches. That was also the case for Torino, so they were far from trustworthy. However, you have to like their chances in this match since they are already back to firing in the goals this season and have Belotti firing on all cylinders. The two sides split their matches last season, with Bologna winning this fixture 2-0 but Torino winning the reverse 5-1. Torino generally enjoys success against Bologna, and despite their shaky away record, they must be favored to continue it here. Torino are at 6/5 to win, and that looks decent considering their record. If you believe both teams will score, you can increase that to 15/4. That's not a bad bet due to Torino's shakiness in defence while still being efficient in attack.

Bologna Preview

Bologna fans will have to be thinking 'here we go again' in their heads as they have seemingly picked up from where they ended last season. The red card to Simone Verdi after just five minutes hurt them greatly, no doubt, and that confined them to such a miserable defeat, but it will still be something the supporters see as a very bad start. There is room for some optimism, however, as they have kept hold of their key players and made some additions. Andrea Poli has joined from Milan, Saphir Taider has come from Inter, and center back Giancarlo Gonzalez has also came in from Palermo.

Bologna Team News

Roberto Donadoni will be missing attacking midfielder Cesar Falletti due to a knee injury.

Torino Preview

Torino come off a roller coaster of a season last year. In every match, it seemed they would either score bundles of goals, or give up a basket full of them. Their defence really kept them from climbing up higher in the table in the end, but they have still left Sinisa Mihajovic in charge of the side. Joe Hart's loan ended and he's moved elsewhere, while they have held on to key striker Andrea Belotti- for now. With him on the pitch, they always have potential to win, so that is a key to look out for. They have added defensive midfielder Tomas Rincon from Juve and Nicolas N'Koulou from Lyon for the season to help their defense, while also signing goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu from PSG.

Torino Team News

Torino will be without right winger Vittorio Parigini due to a shoulder injury.
