Blackpool vs Oxford United Match Prediction

By William Hall

Blackpool welcome Oxford United to Bloomfield Road this weekend in a game which could prove dicisive come the end of the campaign. Blackpool come into this game of the back of a solid 3-1 win away to struggling Plymouth Argyle. Oxford United will travel to Blackpool after a 2-2 draw at home to Bradford City which made it three draws in five games for Josep Ruiz's men. Read on for a full match preview complete with all our best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

During the last couple of seasons the side have met, the scoreline has not been separated by any more than one goal, which makes us feel it is going to be another close encounter this weekend. Blackpool have been solid at home since being back in League One with three wins out of three, however, this looks as if it is going to be their toughest test so far with Oxford lurking just behind them in the league table.

Oxford have failed to win in two trips on the road leading up to this game, losing at Scunthorpe and drawing at MK Dons. This is the first time these two sides have met at Blackpool since 1999 which makes it almost impossible to bring you there head to head stats. But a nice little stat for you is that the last two times these sides have met in Blackpool, the scoreline has ended 1-1. With both sides looking very evenly matched this weekend, I can see this one being a close and scrappy game.

Blackpool Preview

Blackpool have one of the best home records in the league so far this season, winning three out of three. With those kind of stats, you would look at this game and think they are going to walk it. But here at SBAT, we think Oxford could make it harder for the home side than the stats suggest. One player in particular who has set the team alite this season is English midfeilder Sean Longstaff who has managed to score four goals in just five games for the club. The loanee will want to keep this good run of form going and have a good deason in League One to try and sement a position in the Newcastle squad in years to come.

Blackpool Team News

Blackpool will go into this weekends game with a fully fit squad, which is a huge bonus for the club.

Oxford United Preview

Oxford would have been hugely disappointed to have not got the three points during the week, with a 94th minute equaiser breaking the hearts of The U's faithful. However, they showed a lot of quality and character in the match coming from a goal behind to take the lead. They will be looking for some more of the same this weekend against argubly a slightly weaker opposition. Although they haven't had the best of starts to the season when playing away from home, they picked up the majority of there points on the road throughout the 2016/17 season which could end up happening this time around.

Oxford United Team News

Oxford fans will be pleased to hear that they too are injury free this weekend, meaning both sides will be at full strength.
