Blackburn Rovers vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Charlotte Louise Bushell

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) clash is an important game at the bottom of the table as 23rd place host 18th. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Blackburn went down 2-1 at home to Leeds last time out in a game in which they deserved at least a point from. Rovers thought they had done enough when Elliott Bennett equalised in the 83rd minute only for Leeds to net again in the 89th.

QPR gained a very good point at Newcastle in their last game thanks to a 90th minute Ciaran Clark own goal. Conor Washington got the other goal of the game for the Hoops in their 2-2 draw on Wednesday evening.

Rovers are something of a bogey team to QPR with the hoops failing to beat them in their last 12 head-to-heads. The Lancashire side won 2-1 at Loftus Road earlier in the season with goals from Liam Feeney and a Joel Lynch own-goal while a Jake Bidwell penalty proved a mere consolation for the London team.

Blackburn Rovers Preview

Just one from their last ten league games sees Blackburn in relegation trouble as they sit 23rd in the Championship table. If they are to get out of it then this run of four matches looks their best bet as three of them are against teams in the bottom seven.

Rovers home ties tend to see both teams score and this has happened in eight of their last nine at Ewood Park in the league. You would have to go back to October 15th for the last time that they were involved in a goalless draw.

It is two in the last two fixtures for Elliott Bennett though it is Danny Graham who represents the biggest scoring threat for the Lancashire side having netted seven times in his last ten Championship matches.

QPR Preview

Just one defeat from their last six games is a decent run of form for QPR and Ian Holloway is confident that his side can continue to climb from the 18th place that they currently fill in the Championship table.

Both teams to score has been a recent aspect of their league matches with five of the last six seeing this and five of the last seven having gone over 2.5 goals.  This goes up to three of four if you just look at recent away fixtures.

Early goals have been a feature of recent Hoops ties with each of the last six seeing a goal in the first thirty minutes. The London side have found the net first in four of their last six in the Championship.

QPR over 1.5 goals here

Blackburn Team News

Marvin Emnes is available for selection once more after returning on another loan spell. Efe Ambrose is still waiting for paperwork to be completed before being allowed to join up with the team. Rovers will be without injured quartet Elliott Ward (broken ankle), Tommy Hoban (dislocated shoulder), Adam Henley (hamstring) and Corry Evans (groin).

QPR Team News

New signings Ravel Morrison and Matt Smith will be hoping to included in the squad while Luke Freeman might start after coming off the bench in midweek for his debut.  Grant Hall (achilles), Idrissa Sylla (hamstring) and Yeni N’Gbakoto (ankle) are all doubts while Jack Robinson (hamstring) and Conor Hudnott (shoulder) are ruled out.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I think QPR to get over 1.5 goals in this game looks the way to play as they have managed this in two of their last three away games.  Blackburn meanwhile have shipped two or more goals in six of their last nine in the league.

Ian Holloway used a three at the back system in midweek, and if he continues this with formation then out of position wing-back, Darnell Furlong is a big double figure price to trouble the scorers here.
