Blackburn Rovers vs Nottingham Forest Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the middle third of the table looking to build on victories last weekend.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Blackburn made it three unbeaten with a 3-2 road victory at Stoke thanks to a goal each from Bradley Dack, Danny Graham and Harrison Reed.  In midweek, they were in League Cup away at Bournemouth and lost 3-2.

Nottingham Forest made it back-to-back victories with a narrow 1-0 defeat of Rotherham thanks to a Lewis Grabban penalty.  On Wednesday night, they hosted Stoke in a League Cup fixture and saw them off 3-2.

These two sides were in different divisions last season so you have to go back to the 2016/17 season for their previous meetings with Rovers winning both.  In fact, they are unbeaten in their last six head-to-heads with the Tricky Trees.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Blackburn have drawn three of their four at home this season while Nottingham Forest have drawn three of their four on the road so backing this game to end all-square looks the sensible approach.

Lewis Grabban has two in two for the visitors while Bradley Dack has two in the last three so backing both teams to score and the game to end in a draw also appeals.

Blackburn Rovers Preview

Rovers are unbeaten in three and have lost just one league game this season with five of their nine ending in draws.  They sit 12th in the Championship table with three of their next four against teams above them.

At Ewood Park, they are unbeaten in four beating Brentford and drawing with Villa, Millwall and Reading.  Only Middlesbrough (zero) have conceded a lower number of home goals than the two the Lancashire outfit have shipped.

Blackburn have scored 11 goals (a mid-level ranking) with four of these coming from midfielder Bradley Dack.  They have the joint-seventh best defensive record conceding just 11 times and have kept four clean sheets this season.

Blackburn Rovers Team News

Charlie Mulgrew (illness) and Craig Conway (unknown) are doubts while Ben Gladwin (knee) and Jacob Davenport (hip) are a few weeks from a return. Dominic Samuel (knee) has been ruled out for the season.

Nottingham Forest Preview

After drawing five of their opening seven a pair of victories has moved Forest up the Championship table.  They are now in ninth place and just one of their next five is against a side in the top eight.

Away from the City Ground, they are without a win in four losing at Brentford and drawing at Bristol, City, Wigan and Swansea.  Three of these four on their travels have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Nottingham Forest have scored a mid-level 11 goals from their 11 fixtures with no player netting more than twice.  Their defence (as you would expect from an Aitor Karanka side) is strong with a fifth best defensive record that has seen them let just nine in.

Nottingham Forest Team News

Daryl Murphy (calf), Juan Rafael Fuentes and Hillel Soudani (both knee) are doubts while Sam Byram (ankle) is a long-term absentee.
