Blackburn Rovers vs Ipswich Town Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features the side 14th in the Championship at home to the bottom team. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Blackburn made it back-to-back league victories at the weekend with a 2-0 win at Millwall thanks to a goal each from Joe Nuttall and Adam Armstrong. In midweek, they lost an FA Cup Third Round replay 4-2 in extra-time to Newcastle with Adam Armstrong and Darragh Lenihan getting their goals.

Ipswich ended a three game losing run and picked up an important three points with a 1-0 home victory over Rotherham. Will Keane got the goal on his debut through the three points flattered them.

The reverse fixture came on the opening day of the season and it ended in an entertaining 2-2 draw with Gwion Edwards and Adetayo Edun netting for Town and Danny Graham and Bradley Dack for Rovers. The expected goals data suggests the result was harsh on the Lancashire outfit who were the better side.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Blackburn should win this game against a poor road side in Ipswich through that being sad the prices offer no value. I would look away from the 90 minutes result market in order to find the value.

I like going low on goals here with Under 2.5 goals looking good and Under 1.5 goals also offering some appeal. James Collins made a huge difference for Town at the back last time and this could be settled by the odd goal.

Blackburn Rovers Preview

Rovers have won their last two but over the last nine it is a mixed set of results with three wins, three draws and three defeats. They sit in 14th but with just six points between them and sixth the play-offs are not out of the reckoning.

At Ewood Park, the Lancashire outfit have lost just one of their last seven and two all season in the league. Four of their last five and seven of their last ten here have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Blackburn are regular goalscorers and have failed to net just five times this season though two of these have come in their last five. Their defence is not so strong and their clean sheet against Millwall is their only one in the last 11.

Blackburn Rovers Team News

Charlie Mulgrew (hamstring), Derrick Wiliams (calf) and Harrison Reed (unknown) are all doubts. Dominic Samuel and Ben Gladwin (both knee) have both been ruled out for the season. Richie Smallwood is available following a suspension.

Ipswich Town Preview

The Tractor Boys have taken just seven points from their last six but the form of others around them has kept them in touch with the pack. They are bottom of the table four behind Bolton in 23rd and seven from safety.

Away from Portman Road, the Suffolk side are winless in their last seven with six of these ending in defeat. They have failed to find the back of the net in each of their last four on the road in the Championship.

Ipswich have started to find goals netting three in their last two having netted just two in the six prior to that. The presence of James Collins really helped their defence last time out and enabled them to keep a clean sheet for just the third time this season.

Ipswich Town Team News

Jon Walters (Achilles) is a doubt while Tom Adeyemi (also Achilles) and Tayo Edun (eye) are long-term absentees. Grant Ward (cruciate) has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
